1. Minutes

The Minutes of the Project Monitoring Committee Meeting, held on 10th December 2008 and which had already been circulated, were approved on being proposed by Mr. Costello and seconded by Mr. Roche subject to the following amendment:

Item No. 7: Address by Social Investment Advisor it was pointed out that Ms. Susan Mannion, Social Investment Advisor with SEPIL, should read Ms. Susan Shannon.

2. Matters arising

There were no matters raised under this item.

3. Water Quality Carrowmore Lake

Mr. Walsh outlined to the meeting the up to date position on the water quality of Carrowmore Lake as set out in report which had been circulated to the PMC. A copy of this report together with summary of the analysis is available on the Mayo County Council website www.mayococo.ie

4. Updates:

  1. Roadworks/Transportation

Mr. Walsh informed the meeting that deliveries of abnormal loads have been completed. He also stated that works on the R314 and L1202 are due for completion by mid March 2009.

Bord na Móna

Mr. Cosgrove outlined the up to date position on the Srahmore Peat Repository as set out in report which had been circulated to the PMC copy of which is available on www.mayococo.ie

5. Update on Terminal

Mr. Costello informed the meeting that in excess of 1,000 people are now employed on the Bellanaboy site. Work is approximately 65% complete and it is expected to have most of the construction work completed by the end of 2009.

Mr. Walsh informed the meeting of the current position relating to environmental issues as set out in report circulated to the PMC copy of this report is available on www.mayococo.ie

6. Environmental Issues

Mr. Doyle outlined to the meeting the position on the Bellanaboy Bridge Site as set out in report dated 11th February 2009 which was circulated to the meeting a copy of which is available on www.mayococo.ie He indicated that SEPIL will welcome visits to the site from representatives of the various Agencies on the PMC.

7. Community Fund

Mr. Walsh updated the meeting on the following projects:

  1. Bangor Angling Scheme this project is expected to be substantially completed by the end of March 2009.

  2. Bellanaboy Village Scheme An application for funding for the provision of new footpaths and public lighting from the Terminal gate to Bellanaboy Bridge has been forwarded to the Community Forum.

8. Local Issues

As Mr. Nicholas Whyte was unable to attend the meeting due to illness, the good wishes of the Committee were extended to him.

9. Any other issues

There were no issues raised.

It was agreed to hold the next meeting of the Committee at the Bellanaboy Terminal Site on 15th April 2009 at 11.00am.
