Minutes of the Project Monitoring Committee Meeting held on 15th April, 2009 at the Terminal Site, Bellanaboy, Co. Mayo at 11:00am.

At the commencement, the Chairman, Mr. D. Mahon, informed the meeting that Mr. Nicholas White had tendered his resignation to the Project Monitoring Committee due to ill-health.   Mr. Whyte’s resignation was accepted by the Committee and he was thanked for his co-operation and assistance during his membership of the PMC.

 

The Chairman indicated that he would request Mr. John Coll, Director of Community and Enterprise with Mayo County Council to make arrangements, as necessary, for the filling of the vacancy.

 

 

1.         Minutes

 

The Minutes of the Project Monitoring Committee Meeting which was held on 11th February 2009, were approved, having been proposed by Mr. Costello and seconded by Mr. Ó hObáin.

 

2.         Matters arising

 

There were no matters arising.

 

 

3.         Water Quality – Carrowmore Lake

 

Mr. Walsh outlined the up to date position on water quality in Carrowmore Lake as set out in report circulated to the meeting – copy of which, together with verified results, are available on the Mayo County Council website – www.mayococo.ie 

 

 

4.         Updates:

 

q       Roadworks/Transportation

Mr. Walsh informed the meeting that deliveries of abnormal loads have been completed and that works on the R314 and L1202 have been substantially completed.

 

q       Bord na Móna

Mr. Cosgrove informed the Committee that no non-compliances had occurred, no complaints were received or no incidents recorded at the site since the last meeting – as set out in report circulated to the meeting, copy of which is available on www.mayococo.ie

 

 

5.         Update on Terminal

 

Mr. Butler outlined the up to date position as set out in report circulated, dated 14th April 2009, on the Bellanaboy Bridge Site and indicated that work on the site is approximately 71% complete.

 

 

6.         Environmental Issues

 

Mr. Doyle set out the position in relation to environmental issues at the Bellanaboy Bridge Site as set out in report circulated – copy of which is available on www.mayococo.ie

 

 

7.         Community Fund

 

Mr. Walsh updated the meeting on the following projects:

 

q       Bangor Angling Scheme

The members of the PMC were highly complimentary of all involved in the provision of this facility, which has now been completed.

 

 

 

q       Bellanaboy Village Scheme

This project which involves the provision of new footpaths and public lighting from the Terminal Gate to Bellanaboy bridge on the R314, will be submitted to the North West Mayo Community Forum for funding.

 

 

8.         Local Issues

 

Mr. Gaughan informed the meeting that he had received enquiries from former Bord na Móna employees regarding re-employment on the peat deposition contract.   This matter was noted by Mr. Cosgrove who indicated that no decision had, as yet, been made on this project.

 

 

9.         Any other business

 

There were no matters arising

 

 

It was agreed that the next meeting will be held on 17th June 2009 at 11.00am at the Bellanaboy Terminal Site.
