Planning and Development Acts 2000-2010 & Planning and Development Regulations 2001-2011 Proposed Amendment to Charlestown–Bellaghy Local Area Plan 2010–2016

Pursuant to Section 20 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended, Mayo County Council hereby gives notice that it proposes, in conjunction with Sligo County Council, to amend the Charlestown–Bellaghy Local Area Plan.

 The proposed amendment is intended to bring the Local Area Plan in line with the requirements of the Core Strategies of Mayo County Development Plan 2008-2014 and Sligo County Development Plan 2011–2017.

Following screening and consultation with prescribed environmental authorities, it has determined that the proposed amendment to the Charlestown–Bellaghy Local Area Plan is not likely to have significant effects on the environment. Therefore, Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is not required.

 Appropriate Assessment Screening has also been carried out on the proposed amendment. 

 A copy of the Proposed Amendment to the Charlestown–Bellaghy Local Area Plan 2010-2016, the SEA Determination Decision and Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) maybe inspected from Friday 27th April 2012 to Monday 11th June 2012 inclusive, (excluding Public Holidays) during normal opening hours of the offices concerned at the following locations: 

Co.Mayo

  • Mayo County Council, Swinford Area Office,Station Road, Swinford.
  • Mayo County Council, Planning Section,Arasan Chontae, The Mall, Castlebar.
  • CharlestownBranch Library,Charlestown.

 Co. Sligo

  • Planning Section, Sligo County Council, County Hall,Riverside,Sligo 
  • Teach Laighne (One Stop Shop) Tobercurry,           

 These documents are also available to download from both Mayo County Council and Sligo County Council websites www.mayococo.ie. and www.sligococo.ie.

 Submissions or observations in respect of the Proposed Amendment to the Charlestown–Bellaghy Local Area Plan 2010-2016 made to the Planning Authority within the period specified above will be taken into consideration in deciding upon the proposal.

Children, or groups or associations representing the interests of children are entitled to make submissions or observations and any such submissions or observations received will also be taken into consideration in deciding upon the proposed amendment.

All submissions or observations should be made in writing and clearly marked “Proposed Amendment to theCharlestown–Bellaghy Local Area Plan 2010-2016”.
