General Info

Because of the dangerous winter road conditions, everyone is advised to drive with extreme care and avoid unnecessary travel.

Also, be sure to take care on footpaths as hidden ice has resulted in large numbers of pedestrians slipping.

If you need emergency assistance from Civil Defence or from Mayo County Council road crews, the following emergency number is now being manned 24 hours a day during the current extreme weather conditions. Emergency number:  094 90 34705 (please do not call with requests for road gritting as only the roads shown on the map above are being gritted).

Please Conserve Water

  • Residents in Achill, Tonragee and Curraun on Achill Island are asked to minimise their water use as their local supply is under severe pressure.
