Proposed Variation No. 3 of the Castlebar and Environs Development Plan 2008-2014

Proposed Variation No.3 of the Castlebar and Environs is on public display from Tuesday 30th October until Wednesday 28th November 2012, during which time submissions are observations can be made. The reason for the proposed variation is to reroute the proposed road corridor east and south of Castlebar (N5 Westport to Bohola Road Project) at the townlands of Aghadrinagh, Lisnageeha or Antigua, Lisnakirka or Milebush, Balloor, Lightford, Shanvally, Drumaleheen, Kilkenny, Doogary (ED Breaghwy), Liscromwell & Aghalusky.

Proposed Variation No. 4 Castlebar & Environs Development Plan 2008-2014

Mayo County Council proposes to vary the Castlebar & Environs Plan 2008-2014 in accordance with Section 13 of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended. The reasons for the Proposed Variation to the Plan are: 1.To incorporate the provisions of the Urban Regeneration and Housing Act 2015, with respect to the Vacant Site Levy and Urban Renewal and Regeneration into the Plans, through – (a) Inclusion of objectives for the development and renewal of designated areas, in need of residential development and regeneration, (b) Identification of such designated areas on maps in the respective Plans, (c) Integration of the revised requirements of Section 10(2)(h) of the Planning and Development Acts 2000 - 2015 (as amended under the Urban Regeneration and Housing Act 2015), relating to Urban Renewal and Regeneration, into the respective Development Plans and (d) Incorporation of consequential and other changes to the Plans arising from the Proposed Variation Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) & Appropriate Assessment (AA) screening were undertaken in respect of the proposed variation. It has been determined that the proposed variation will not have significant effects on the environment and an environmental report is not required. The appropriate assessment screening has indicated that a full appropriate assessment is not required. The Proposed Variation along with the SEA and AA determinations are available for public inspection until Thursday 24th November. Please note that the Variation No.4 document shows only the relevant sections of the Castlebar Development Plan which it is proposed to change, not the entire Plan. Therefore it is advised that the Variation No.4 document is read in conjunction with the current Castlebar & Environs Development Plan 2008-2014 All documents associated with the proposed variation are below:

Mayo County Council Proposes to vary the Castlebar Development Plan 2008-2014. The reasons for the Proposed Variation to the above Plan are: 1. To ensure that the Plan is consistent with the Regional Planning Guidelines in ensuring that housing provision in accordance with the population projections and the County Core Strategy are achievable, therefore it is necessary to release Phase 2 residential lands in order to ensure housing provision can be met within the period of the Plan. 2. To provide for a Regional Outdoor Training Facility and to ensure the Council complies with its statutory obligation to the provision of social housing.
