Mayo County Council have appointed the National Building Agency (NBA) to prepare a Local Area Plan for Killala town.

Public participation is an essential element in the process in order to ensure the views of the public are taken into consideration. To assist in the preparation of the Plan, a public workshop was organised as part of the pre-draft consultation and in

Killala Community Centre on Monday 9th July 2007 at 7:30pm.

At the roundtable discussions issues were discussed under the following themes.

  1. Effective Transport & Movement
  2. Residential Strategy & Neighbourhoods
  3. The Natural Environment
  4. Archaeology
  5. Architectural Heritage
  6. Commercial, Industrial and Office Development
  7. Community Development
  8. Urban Design
  9. Tourism Potential
  10. Sewerage/Water/Drainage
  11. Sustainable Energy and Communications
  12. Waste Management
  13. Development Boundaries

Mayo County Council also invites written submissions or observations from interested individuals or groups/organisations in relation to the future development of Killala town.

Written submissions or observations shall be clearly marked

‘Submissions (Town name e.g. Killala)’

and sent to the undersigned
