Planning: Application Notices

Newspaper Notices

  1. The notice must be published only in one of the following newspapers:
    • Western People
    • Connaught Telegraph
    • Mayo News
    • Mayo Advertiser
    • Irish Times
    • Irish Independent
  2. The period between the publication of the notice and the receipt of the application by the Planning Authority must not be greater than 14 days.
  3. The notice shall contain as a heading ‘Mayo County Council’.
  4. The notice shall state:
    1. The name of the applicant.
    2. The location, townland or postal address of the land or structure to which the application relates (as may be appropriate).
    3. Whether the application is for permission for development, permission for retention of development, outline permission for development or permission consequent on the grant of outline permission (stating the reference number on the register of the relevant outline permission).
    4. The nature and extent of the development, including:
      1. Where the application relates to development consisting of or comprising the provision of houses, the number of houses to be provided.
      2. Where the application relates to the retention of a structure, the nature of the proposed use of the structure and, where appropriate, the period for which it is proposed to retain the structure.
      3. Where the application relates to development which would consist of or comprise the carrying out of works to a protected structure or proposed protected structure, an indication of that fact.
      4. Where the application relates to development which comprises or is for the purposes of an activity requiring an integrated pollution control licence or a waste licence, an indication of that fact, or
      5. Where a planning application relates to development in a strategic development zone, an indication of that fact, and
      6. That the planning application may be inspected or purchased at the offices of the Planning Authority and a submission or observation in relation to the application may be made to the Authority in writing on payment of the prescribed fee (€20) within the period of 5 weeks beginning on the date of receipt by the Authority of the application.

Forward Planning Updates

IRELAND WEST AIRPORT KNOCK - STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT ZONE

In accordance with the provisions of Section 169 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) and the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 – 2019, the documents below are required to be kept  on public display for a period of at least 6 weeks from Wednesday 29th May 2019.

Written submissions/observations should be clearly marked,

“Ireland West Airport Knock SDZ” and sent to the Forward Planning Section, Mayo County Council, Aras an Chontae, Castlebar, Co. Mayo. F23 WF90, or they can be emailed to iwaksdz@mayococo.ie 

The closing date for submissions or observations is

Friday 12th July 2019 at 4.pm.


Mayo County Development Plan Review Process is paused until after the Regional Spatial & Economic Strategy (RSES) is published.

The RSES is due to be published in early 2019, please check back then for further updates on the preparation of the County Development Plan.
