NOTICE OF PROPOSED VARIATION

TO

CASTLEBAR &ENVIRONS DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2008 – 2016

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 13 of the Planning & Development Acts 2000-2016 that

Mayo County Council proposes to make a variation to the above named Plan as follows:

PROPOSED VARIATION NO. 5 TO CASTLEBAR & ENVIRONS DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2008 – 2014

The reasons for the Proposed Variation to the above Plan are:

1. To ensure that the Plan is consistent with the Regional Planning Guidelines in ensuring that housing provision in accordance with the population projections and the County Core Strategy are achievable, therefore it is necessary to release Phase 2 residential lands in order to ensure housing provision can be met within the period of the Plan.

2. To provide for a Regional Outdoor Training Facility and to ensure the Council complies with its statutory obligation to the provision of social housing.

The Proposed Variation to the Plan has been subject to Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Habitats Directive Assessment. The SEA Screening undertaken in respect of the Plan has determined that the Proposed Variation will not have significant effects on the environment and an environmental report is not required. The Habitats Directive Assessment Screening, undertaken in respect of each Plan has indicated that a full Appropriate Assessment is not required.

A copy of the Proposed Variation to the Plan, along with the respective SEA Determinations and Habitats Directive Assessment Screening Reports and Determinations, may be inspected from Wednesday 24th May 2017 until Thursday 22nd June 2017, at the following location during normal opening hours:
