REVIEW OF MAYO COUNTY DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2014 – 2020

 

PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT ACTS 2000 - 2017, PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS 2001-2015, PLANNING & Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations 2004 as amended

 

In accordance with Section 11 of the Planning and Development Acts 2000–2017, the Planning & Development Regulations 2001–2015 and Planning & Development (SEA) Regulations 2004 as amended, Mayo County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to review the Mayo County Development Plan 2014–2020 and prepare a new Development Plan for the period 2020 – 2026.

 

The preparation of the new plan will be strategic in nature for the purposes of developing objectives and policies to deliver an overall strategy for the proper planning and sustainable development of the area of the Development Plan and the core strategy.  

 

The planning authority proposes to carry out a strategic environmental assessment (SEA) as part of the review of the existing plan and the preparation of a new Development Plan, and for this purpose it will prepare an environmental report of the likely significant effects on the environment of implementing the new Development Plan. The planning authority will also undertake a Habitats Directive Assessment, including an Appropriate Assessment, of the likely impacts on the Natura 2000 network of implementing the new plan; and a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment.

 

Submissions or observations regarding objectives and policies to deliver an overall strategy for the proper planning and sustainable development of the area of the Development Plan may be made in writing to the Planning Authority from Wednesday 18th April 2018 until 5pm Thursday 14h June 2018.

 

Children, or groups or associations representing the interests of children, are entitled to make submissions or observations.

 

The planning authority intends to review the zoning of the area of the Development Plan for the purposes of developing objectives and policies, to deliver an overall strategy for the proper planning and sustainable development of the area of the Development Plan and the core strategy.  

 

This will include the review of land use zoning in the Area Plans for the towns of Ballinrobe, Ballyhaunis, Béal an Mhuirthead (Belmullet), Claremorris, Charlestown, Killala, Kiltimagh, Knock, Louisburgh, Newport and Swinford, which plans are part of the Mayo County Development Plan 2014–2020.

 

Requests or proposals for zoning of particular land for any purpose shall not be considered at this stage.

 

In order to encourage engagement and participation, a Consultation Paper and Issues document have been prepared and are available for inspection at;

 

  • Mayo County Council      Planning Office, Áras an      Chontae, The Mall, Castlebar and Mayo County Council offices in Ballina, Belmullet,      Ballinrobe, Claremorris, Swinford and Westport, during normal office hours,
