Projects Funded in 2012

In 2012, the Arts Office is supporting International Day of Persons with Disabilities through the provision of support for arts projects/events in Mayo which will include events inWestport, Castlebar, Belmullet and Ballinrobe. These include;

• A series of percussion workshops facilitated by artist Peter Crann from Itchy Feet with members of The Western Care Association (Erris hosted by Áras Inis Gluaire, Belmullet.
• A series of five visual art workshops with members of the Connaught Creative Resource Centre, and students from the Department of Art and Design at GMIT, Castlebar Campus, leading to the creation of a wall based exhibition which will tour to venues in Mayo.
• A project in Animation, Facilitated by artist Denise McDonagh with members of the Luisne Art Group to experience a new way of working with written words and visual art in order to produce work in a new medium – Animation along with an art book.
• A series of found object sculpture workshops facilitated by artistTom Meskelland hosted by the Rural Training Centre, Castlebar culminating in a screening of edited photographs.
