‘LANDMARK’ – Public Art Programme in Castlebar

Mayo County Council invites submissions for a public art programme in Castlebar, Co Mayo. The funding for this project has been provided by the Percent for Art Scheme, Dept. of Environment, Heritage and Local Government and Housing Capital Programme.

The Programme comprises four separate strands:

Residency - 1 opportunity €30,000

Permanent Artwork Commissions - 2 commissions €30,000 and €45,000

Temporary, Performance or Event Based Commissions - 2 commissions €15,000 and €10,000

Bursary Training Schemes - 2 bursary places - €5,000 each

Mayo County Council's Summer Music Series will feature seven musical performances in venues all around the county. Achill, Ballyhaunis, Belmullet, Westport, Ballina, Charlestown and Louisburgh are all stops on the Summer Music Series in 2010. Many tastes are catered for in an exciting, eclectic programme featuring some of the finest musical talent is represented in the form of local, national and international musicians. Booking is essential and can be done through Mayo County Council Arts Office. All events are free of charge.

Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill is Mayo County Council Writer in Residence 2010

Mayo County Council Bealtaine 2010 - Celebrating creativity in older age

It’s that time of year again! Mayo County Council Arts Office is almost ready to embark on a month long programme of activity for Bealtaine 2010. This is the fifteenth year of Bealtaine, the national festival which celebrates creativity in older age – co-ordinated nationally by Age and Opportunity. Bealtaine aims to involve older people in the arts, through expression and active participation. It also encourages older people to engage as an experienced audience for all art forms.

Opportunity to contribute towards a Public Art Commission –Project: Belmullet -‘Aras Inis Gluaire’

In Conjunction with Mayo County Council and the Aras Inis Glauire in Bellmullet, County Mayo- Artist James Hayes is seeking donations of either important, significant, meaningful or symbolic pencils from local people and also Writers, Artists, Poets, Architects, Historians, Journalists or any relevant contributor who possesses a significant pencil and who wishes to donate it to help form part of this large scale permanent public sculptural installation commissioned by Mayo County Council for the Aras Inis Gluaire in Bellmullet , County Mayo.
