Mayo Day 2019: Open call Mayo Visual Artists

Mayo Day 2019 – Words of Mayo

Mayo Day, dedicated to the celebration of the culture, vibrant communities, and unquenchable spirit of County Mayo returns for its 5th year on Saturday 4th May 2019.

Following the success of the ‘Made of Mayo’ art exhibition in 2018, Mayo Arts Service are again this year providing an opportunity for Mayo born and based artists to have their work included in an exhibition responding to the Mayo Day theme for 2019 – ’Words of Mayo’.

Artists are invited to submit artworks to be included in this exhibition which will form an integral part at this year's Mayo Day flagship event, which takes place at the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life in Turlough, showcasing the abundant wealth of creativity within the county.  Mayo Art Service is delighted to work with Castlebar-born Emer McGarry to curate this year’s exhibition. Emer is currently Interim Director at The Model, Sligo which is home of The Niland Collection, and is one of Ireland’s leading contemporary arts centres.
