There will be opportunities to talk to Filmmakers, Animators, Visual Artists, Poets, Musicians, Dancers, Writers, Architects, Producers, Sound Technicians, Fashion Designers, Lighting technicians, Play writers, Actors, Arts Managers, DJ’s and others.
The Creative Careers day is being run by the Arts Office of Mayo County Council in partnership with the TF Royal Castlebar and is part of Mayo County Council’s annual Youth Arts Programme, EXCEL.
In total over 18 professional people will be available for you to talk to on an informal, one to one basis. This is an amazing opportunity and it won’t cost you anything.
This is an ideal event for Transition year students or those studying for their Leaving cert or those thinking of making a career change or people trying to get back into employment. Basically if you have an interest in pursing a career in the Creative Industries why not take this opportunity to talk to those professionals who are doing the job you dream of.
Musician James Mc Nally of Afro Celt fame, Steve Reddy from FMC (Federation of Music Collectives) and Ronan Courell, Sound and Recording technician, will be there to advise aspiring musicians. Those interested in writing will have an opportunity to chat with writer Morag Prunty (or Kate Kennelly as she is know by some readers). Those who have a flair for Visual Art and Animation can chat with Visual Artist and Animator Aideen Barry, who has even undergone Astronaut training for her zero gravity film works and animations. Budding poets can talk with poet Billy Ramsell. Music Video producers, Souljacker will be providing advice in writing/producing/ directing. Dancers from Junk Ensemble, Jessica and Megan Kennedy will be available for those interested in a career in dance.
