PHYSICAL THEATRE

Thursday 8th April @ 8.00pm

Limbik Theatre Company - The Harbour

A contemporary re-imagining of a selkie tale - inspired by old stories of seal-women - The Harbour follows a daughter’s journey back to her island home, where she finally learns why her mother abandoned her as a child. Funny, moving and visually arresting, with haunting live music, Limbik explores the fragile nature of the relationships that give us shelter, and a safe haven, in a chaotic and unpredictable world. Presented by new UK-based physical theatre company Limbik.

The Event

Standing in a pool of light, a man wittily deconstructs the theatrical experience while offering parallel insight into modern life: what if everything we believe and experience is an illusion, a fantasy designed to make us forget all that's important? Written and directed by John Clancy, and performed by David Calvitto, this deceptively simple piece of theatre - unpretentious and totally engaging - playfully but profoundly leads us to question not only the nature of reality, but the very nature of existence itself. A winner of the Edinburgh Fringe First Award, beautifully conceived and masterfully delivered. Profound, thought-provoking and imaginative.

Adm.: 15 euro / 12 euro (concessions)

Garrymore Drama Group, is proud to present “Pull the Other One”, a comedy by well known Playwright, Norman Robbins. In the play, Albert Perkins is blessed with a loving wife Muriel and cursed with a fearsome mother in-law, Boadicea.  When his good friend Hilary Armitage writes to him reminiscing about good times they used to have, Boadicea reads the letter and determines to remove her daughter instantly from the clutches of this sex-fiend.  Albert has a hard time explaining that the letter is perfectly innocent, and anyway Hilary is a man. It isn't helped when he turns up wearing a blonde wig and a glamorous dress. By the time Hilary manages to explain that he has just come straight from doing his drag act at the local pub, it's late and Boadicea has bashed Albert with the poker and even when he comes round, Albert's troubles are far from over.   In a weak moment, he agrees to model for a girl student wearing mainly a potted plant and Hilary, anxious to make amends for the misunderstanding he has caused, offers to deputise for Albert at bell ringing practice at St Humphrey's.  Both these acts of kindness bring disaster in their wake.

Norman Robbins first comedy/farce is a riot from start to finish and will be performed by Garrymore Drama Group in the Town Hall Theatre, Kiltimagh on Friday, April 16th at 8.30p.m. Doors open at 8.10p.m. and tickets, available at the door, are priced at Adults €10 with concessions at priced at €5
