Mayo County Council Tyrone Guthrie Regional Bursary Scheme 2010

Mayo County Council are offering two special bursary awards to artists born or living in Mayo, to enable them to spend two weeks at The Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig, County Monaghan. Each bursary covers all board and lodging expenses for a two-week period, plus the use of a studio if necessary.

There are a variety of workspaces available including studios, a music room for composers and musicians, and a large rehearsal and performance space.

The bursaries are open to practitioners in all artforms born or domiciled within County Mayo. There is no age limit.

Applicants should show significant achievement in their chosen field. This would normally mean that writers should already have published in book form, painters and sculptors should have had one-person shows in reputable galleries and that composers and musicians should have had their work commissioned, recorded or performed, or whatever might be appropriate to the particular artform. Otherwise the applicant must demonstrate a high degree of promise attested by references or other forms of support from established figures in the arts.

CALLING ALL YOUNG JAZZ GROUPS - MUSIC NETWORK INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR YOUNG MUSICWIDE AWARD 2010

Music Network invites aspiring young jazz musicians to apply for the YOUNG MUSICWIDE AWARD 2010. Young Musicwide is a unique professional development scheme designed to assist a selected group of Ireland’s brightest young musicians at the beginning of their professional career.  The award this year is open to jazz ensembles of any instrumentation up to a maximum of five people.   The closing date for completed applications is Monday 5th July 2010.  Through an audition process in September, an Irish or Ireland based jazz ensemble, with a proven interest in performance will be selected to participate in the Young Musicwide Award programme for three years.  Previous jazz ensembles to receive the award were Organics jazz trio (2004) who released their debut CD, “New Light” under the scheme and Trihornophone (2007) who released their debut CD, “Breathing Time” under the scheme. As recipients of the award, both groups have performed in many of Music Network’s partner promoter venues throughout Ireland. According to Seán Óg from Trihornophone, "through the support of the Young Musicwide Award, Trihornophone really gained momentum with concerts in venues across the country. The support behind the production and launch of our CD was invaluable and has upped the group's profile both here and internationally."Modeled on international examples, the Young Musicwide programme is designed to provide up to three musicians or ensembles annually with an incentive to pursue a professional career in music performance, and to provide promoters nationwide with access to the very best of emerging Irish talent.

The main features of the award are:

§    Performance opportunities with Music Network promoters in Ireland: it is expected that the selected ensemble will be offered several concerts each year, resources permitting, subject to agreement and availability

§    An agreed fee and expenses for each concert.

§    Marketing tools such as professional photoshoot; professionally designed posters, fliers and programmes and PR support around concert activity and CD launch

§    Professional support and advice towards the development of participants’ careers as professional musicians.

§    Masterclass/workshop opportunities.

§    Subsidised production of CD and CD launch event

§    Inclusion for one member of the ensemble on Music Network continuing professional development courses

§    A Dublin showcase concert.

§    After a 3-year period, an invitation to the group, subject to agreement, to join the Musicwide programme proper.

Previous recipients of the award in other genres include the Callino Quartet (2001); voice and piano duo Ailish Tynan and Deborah Kelleher (2002); clarinetist Carol McGonnell (2003); traditional group Slide (2005), piano, cello and violin trio The Syrius Trio (2006), harp, flute and viola trio, Triocca (2006) and piano quartet, the Cappa Ensemble (2008). Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon Young Ensembles Scheme (YES)Deadline: 5.30pm, 30 April 2010

Applications are invited for activities beginning between July 1st and December 31st 2010 and completed by June 30th 2011. The primary purpose of this award is to support groups of young people between the ages of 12 and 23 to create ambitious and original work together in any art form (e.g.: circus, dance, digital media, film, music, theatre, literature, visual arts, or any combination of the above). Groups / ensembles must be made up of 3 or more members. The maximum award available is €10,000. Arts and Disability Awards Ireland

This Arts and Disability Awards Ireland Scheme is co-funded by the Arts Council and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. It is administered by the Arts and Disability Forum (ADF). Please note that this award may be subject to different conditions and criteria than the awards directly administered by the Arts Council. Requests for information or application form should be directly to the ADF. The Arts and Disability Awards provide financial support for individual disabled artists living in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, working across all artforms. The scheme aims to challenge and inspire creativity, experimentation and artistic excellence. Each applicant can apply for a maximum of £5,000 or the euro equivalent.

New online services facility from the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon

You can now apply online for Projects and Travel and Training awards using the Arts Council online services website - http://onlineservices.artscouncil.ie. Online services were developed to more efficiently manage funding applications and payments. This new website means that you can: - Download application forms and guidelines; - Create a profile for banking, tax and contact details (which you can reuse for other applications); - Upload the completed application form(s) and up to 20MB of electronic supporting materials; - Avail of a one-week deadline extension to complete online applications; (Where successful), submit a payment request or payment schedule with supporting documentation.Applications for the Touring and Dissemination of Work scheme 2010 will be also be open via online services. Details of the scheme will be published on www.artscouncil.ie shortly.

 

Arts Council: Touring & Dissemination of Work Scheme 2010

The Arts Council has announced a new scheme for supporting the touring and dissemination of work in all arts disciplines. The principal purpose of the scheme is to ensure that audiences throughout the country may have access to high quality arts experiences.

Applications are invited for proposals seeking funding in support of high quality activities aimed at reaching various types of audiences in any art form or area of arts practice. These activities should be due to take place this year, or at least begin in 2010.

The deadline for applications is 5.30pm on Thursday 15 April 2010. It is expected that applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application before the end of May 2010.

Full information (including Guidance Notes and a sample Application Form) will be posted on the Arts Council website on Monday 22 March 2010. Additional details will not be available in advance of this date.

The Touring and Dissemination of Work scheme is open to applications from organisations, individuals and various types of networks / consortia. Applications are encouraged from networks, consortia or other collective groupings of presenters, particularly where these indicate a high degree of collaboration with the producing entity or artists. Applicants in receipt of other Arts Council funding are eligible to apply, provided it is clear that the touring or dissemination activity for which funding is sought is additional to those activities for which Arts Council funding has already been offered.

The Arts Council will offer the following Commissions awards for activities commencing in 2010:- Music Commissions Award- Traditional Arts Commissions AwardIn the context of this award the definition of a ‘commission’ is where one person or entity (the commissioner) supports and pays another (an artist or group of artists) to create or deliver an artistic work or project that takes place within a set of parameters agreed to by both partners. The primary purpose of this award is to facilitate creative partnerships between a range of commissioners and artists. The process must lead to some form of outcome or conclusion.
