Image > Act > Actual, an exhibition of photography and video works by Peter Spiers, addresses the possibilities of the image from a phenomenological position. It examines the state of the image in its relation to Actuality, taking references from diverse subjects as Mikhail Bakhtin, Jacques Rancière and Laurel & Hardy films. Spiers explains: “Usually we engage with images through a system of representation; of signs, signifiers, appropriations, referents and stand-ins. This exhibition turns on its head our usual way of engaging with the image”.

In Traced Memory, Michelle Browne will present a series of performative participatory works made for public spaces. The exhibition will consist of documentation and reports from the performances, seeking to capture the essence of the experience of such an event. Michelle Browne is an artist and curator based in Dublin, Ireland. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally, and is the recipient of the NCAD Student Prize, The RDS James White Art Award, The Arts Council of Ireland Artist Bursary and support from Culture Ireland. This work is kindly supported by The Arts Council.

Free admission. All are welcome to attend, exhibition runs until 28th August.

Exhibition of paintings. Her works emerge from a personal interaction with and reaction to the landscape, the environment, nature and with life. The “Total” experience of what is seen or felt becomes part of the human psyche. During the creative process, that essence is revisited and the emotionality of the subject matter becomes an expressed experience instead of being an internally exclusive one. The end result the finished work becomes a testimony to a sense of an emotional personal connectedness to that original total experience.

David Finn August 19th - September 12th

His practice involves a continuous process of accumulating found materials and imagery. He is interested in the richness of the abstract visual language that exists within these found materials. t stimulates ideas for new work and sometimes becomes the work itself. His work is to a large part minimalist abstract painting. Recently he has started to exhibit other forms together with these paintings, such as the found objects themselves.

A touring exhibition organised by Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum, Chinks Grylls and Mary Mackey in partnership with Crafts Council of Ireland.
