BELFAST CITY HALL COMMISSION: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Belfast City Council invites expressions of interest from artists for a commission for Belfast City Hall that aims to reflect the cultural perspectives of all Belfast citizens and to demonstrate that the civic building is a ‘City Hall for All’. Artists may propose work in any appropriate medium that may be permanently displayed in a prominent location within Belfast City Hall.Artists may wish to consider the following areas that have emerged during prior research and consultation regarding this commission:

- Irish myth and legend

- Celtic symbolism and decoration

- Irish language

- Irish traditional arts: music, dance, literature and storytelling

- archaeological landmarks and influences

The budget for this commission is GBP20,000, inclusive of all fees and expenses, VAT, insurance, travel costs and cost of fabrication and installation. It is anticipated that the final art piece will be installed by 30 June 2010. Donegal Co Co  Schools Commission: Call For Submissions

Donegal County Council Public Art Programme wishes to commission an interactive, participatory, performance or time-based arts event for children based upon the themes of Frances Browne, the ‘blind poetess of Stranorlar’, and her work, ‘Granny’s Wonderful Chair’. The project will include a 10 week residency commencing Spring 2010 based in four National Schools in Ballybofey/Stranorlar with one class of schoolchildren aged from 10 to 11 years of age from each school included in the project.

Artists and arts companies from a range of disciplines (community arts, carnival, literature, film, animation, children's theatre, etc.) who work with children are invited to make a project proposal.For the Commission Brief, please contact:

CARLOW GAELSCOIL PUBLIC ART COMMISSION: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

The children, Principal, staff and Board of Management of Gaelscoil Eoghain Uí Thuairisc, Carlow wish to engage an artist or artists as part of the PerCent for Art Scheme to make a permanent artwork that makes a strong visual statement about their school and that resonates and engages with the people and place.

The budget for the commission is €26,000 to include all artist's fees, design, material, fabrication costs, delivery, installation and all other associated costs including insurance and VAT. This is a two-stage commission.
