Big Things on the Beach is looking to commission two stimulating, temporary artworks for the seafront/promenade area of Portobello, a seaside town in the suburbs of Edinburgh, Scotland. This call is for the second and third commissions in the Big Things on the Beach ‘Imagine Porty Prom’ project led by a community-based trust and funded by the Scottish Arts Council and the City of Edinburgh Council.
A budget of GBP8,000 is available for Commission 2 and is open to artistic practitioners who work with light. Events and performances will be considered and the finished piece is to be presented in February/March 2010.
GBP16,000 is available for Commission 3 and is open to artistic practitioners who work in any media, including events and performances. To be presented in June/July 2010.

Visual artists working in all genres including new and traditional media are invited to create a landmark public art work at the Dargan Entrance to Belfast Harbour Estate in the Vicinity of Dargan Road, Seal Road and Dargan Drive. The budget for this commission is GBP100,000, to include artist fees, fabrication, installation, transportation and insurance.
The commissioning procedure will involve a 2-Stage open competition process. Stage 1 will include the shortlisting of preliminary proposals, with decisions made by the selection panel.
For Stage 1, artists are invited to submit to University of Ulster, at Belfast, Cultural Development Office, a proposal comprising of the following:- written document of a max. 500 words outlining their approach to the brief and describing initial ideas for the commission- copy of current CV highlighting relevant qualifications and experience for a commission of this nature, particularly information on recent exhibitions and/or commissions- images of appropriate recent work in the form photographs, CD or DVD (max. 10 images)- a 200 word artist statement that gives a further explanation of their work to support the enclosed visuals.

East Belfast Partnership is calling for applications from experienced and suitably qualified artists/artist teams for the commission of an iconic piece of public art to celebrate Belfast's industrial heritage and create a visual focus for the Newtownards Road. This project is part-funded through the Re-Imaging Communities Programme, led by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland (ACNI).

Donegal County Council Public Art Programme wishes to commission an interactive, participatory, performance or time-based arts event for children based upon the themes of Frances Browne, the ‘blind poetess of Stranorlar’, and her work, ‘Granny’s Wonderful Chair’.
The project will include a 10 week residency commencing Spring 2010 based in four National Schools in Ballybofey/Stranorlar with one class of schoolchildren aged from 10 to 11 years of age from each school included in the project.
Artists and arts companies from a range of disciplines (community arts, carnival, literature, film, animation, children's theatre, etc.) who work with children are invited to make a project proposal.
