Legendary Irish singer/songwriter Andy Irvine makes a welcome return to the Linenhall with his impressive repertoire that ranges from Irish traditional songs to dexterous Balkan dance tunes, creating an exciting new fusion of Irish and World Music not to be missed. Having travelled the world with bands such as Sweeney’s Men, Patrick Street, Planxty and more recently Mozaik, Andy continues to pursue new combinations and styles of music. He has broadened his musical horizons over the course of his forty-year career to encompass the musical styles of countries he visits. Between the achievements of his solo, group work and collaborations, he is a highly revered troubadour of the Irish music world. Andy Irvine never fails to deliver a pulsating, heartfelt performance. Making a typically vibrant return to the Linenhall, Castlebar Gospel Choir under the direction of Kathy Fahey performs a selection of works from their Songs of Freedom concert, previously performed in the John Field Room at the National Concert Hall, as well as a selection of new material. These songs evoke the arduous and emotional path taken by African Americans towards freedom and equality. In addition, there will be a performance of a selection of songs by Eureka, a junior mixed choir also under the direction of Kathy Fahey, that has been in existence for six years. The concert a finale combining the talents of both choirs. Kathy will be ably assisted by Marese O'Hora, who will accompany Castlebar Gospel Choir on the piano.

Jack L is widely regarded as one of the greatest performers ever to have graced a stage. He has performed to sell out crowds in America, a crowd of 40,000 nestled in the palm of his hand at Ireland’s Witness Festival, and he is one of only a few distinguished artists to have performed at the Glastonbury Festival for three consecutive days. The remarkable Irish singer, who has drawn comparisons to legendary talents including Frank Sinatra, Jacques Brel, Scott Walker and Nick Cave, is renowned for his exceptional live performances, has seven acclaimed albums to his credit: the latest, The Story So Far, a collection of his best material to date. From the magic to the mundane, from the carnal to the cosmic, Jack L’s distinctive songs and electrifying vocal style make this a concert not to be missed. As an acoustic performance in the intimate setting of the Linenhall, this promises to be a very special night indeed.
