The Hugh O’Flaherty Memorial Committee invites submissions for a permanent memorial sculpture for Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty, which will be located in a street side central location in Killarney town, as selected and facilitated by Killarney Town Council.
The Committee are seeking submissions for work that will fall with its envisaged budget of €50,000 to €60,000 and will not exceed €70,000 including vat.

Per Cent For Art Scheme, Scoil Diarmada, Castledermot, Co.Kildare

Scoil Diarmada National School, Castledermot, Co.Kildare under the Department of Education & Science Per Cent for Art Scheme wish to commission a dance artist to take up residency and contribute to the development of a ‘dance culture’ with children and staff in and around their new school building. The residency is expected to begin in October 2010 and take place within a one to two school year period (negotiable).
The aims of the residency are:
- CULTURE to contribute to the development of a ‘dance culture’ in and around Scoil Diarmada, Castledermot
- CREATIVITY to explore local historical sites and the new school in Castledermot through dance
- COMMUNITY to engage primarily with the school children and the local community through dance
- CREATIVITY to provide a platform for a dance artist to develop their own practice
- COLLABORATION with a *visual artist during the project to develop permanent works for the school
The total fund awarded is €18,000 to include all fees, travel, costs, sub contractors etc. This commission will be awarded by a two-stage selection process.
At this first stage, the school invites expressions of interest by means of showreels, dvds and supporting written material from a dance artist with experience of working in community/educational contexts, and knowledge of creative practices relevant to this setting.
At the second stage, the dance artists will be shortlisted and invited to submit a detailed concept proposal for the final piece.
Deadline for expressions of interest is 12 noon, Friday 18th June 2010.

*It is envisaged that a visual artist will collaborate with the dance artist to create permanent works for the school to mark the residency. If you have previously worked successfully with a visual artist, you may like to submit a joint proposal. A separate fee will be available for the visual artist and the commission will also be advertised separately.
The HSE invites submissions under the Public Art – Per Cent for Art Scheme for artworks for the Tralee Community Nursing Unit. The artwork(s) may be of any discipline, design or media.
The total budget is circa €39,700 to cover all costs associated with the artwork(s).
The competition for the artwork(s) will be a two stage process. Stage 1 will require outline concept proposals and stage 2 will require detailed proposals from those artists who are shortlisted. A site visit will be arranged for artists interested in submitting for competition.
