Winter Music Classes

Following from the success of last year, Winter Music Classes in Áras Inis Gluaire are re-commencing on Wed, Oct 6.  Expert tuition in guitar, keyboard, fiddle, tin whistle and accordion from 7pm – 8pm for beginners and from 8pm – 9pm for past pupils.  Singing will commence at 4pm also on Oct 6.

Dakota Dave Hull

Acclaimed by everyone from folk legends Dave van Ronk and Doc Watson to The Washington Post, Dakota Dave Hull’s guitar style spans a wide musical geography to create an infectious, uniquely personal blend of jazz, ragtime, folk, blues, Western swing and vintage pop. Alternatively mirthful and moving, and always melodic, Dakota Dave is a gifted composer as well as a strikingly original interpreter of older tunes, describing his music as “classic American guitar”. Beyond the sheer technical virtuosity, Dakota Dave’s performances are also great fun, full of heart and a love for the music he delivers so well. Come on down for a great evening of roots guitar and find out what everyone’s talking about.

WhistleBlast Quartet

The WhistleBlast Quartet - Ken Edge (saxophones), Síle Daly (oboe), Andrew Synnott (piano) and Mary Curran (French horn) - performs an enjoyable and relaxing free family concert for all ages. Music will include Fauré’s Sicilienne, Ravel’s Bolero, The Pink Panther Theme and much more. Children from Scoil Raifteirí will perform a short, imaginative piece with the Quartet as the grand finale. An informal and accessible concert full of charming favourites: need we say more?
