Mayo County Council and artist Aileen Lambert, along with residents in Bekan are extending an invitation to members of the public to join them in a bus and walking tour of sites related to old routes on Saturday 4th Sept.  There will also be a further tour on Saturday 18th September around the Ballindine area.Bog roads, old routes to school through the fields, an old path connecting neighbouring houses and routes to local wells are just some of the sites which will be visited on the day long tour in the parish of Bekan, near Ballyhaunis, County Mayo.

The tour has been devised by Wexford artist Aileen Lambert as part of a public art project commissioned by Mayo County Council. The tour is arranged in two stages and the audience can choose to attend for the entire day, or select either the morning tour (10am to 1pm) or afternoon tour (2pm to 5pm). Bekan Community Centre is the meeting point for both tours.The event is free of charge and lunch will be provided. Westmeath Public Art Commissions Panel

Mullingar Town Roundabout Sculpture Scheme, Co. Westmeath.  As part of the new Westmeath Arts Plan 2010-2016, Westmeath County Council wish to develop a panel of Artists available for potential commissioning of public artwork over the next 5 years in order to Utilise existing roundabouts at principal towns in the County to develop a new network of public art sculptures. The initial stage of this project will focus on Mullingar. There is no particular theme for the sculptures however artists may wish to portray the history or culture of the town in a traditional, contemporary or abstract context. This is a one staged selection process procedure. Artists are asked to make a general submission for a piece of art work that would be suitable for any roundabout. Submission & Specification Details                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Artists are required to submit the following: A typed proposal outlining details of the art work, including materials, specifications, dimensions, a breakdown of costs, outline details as to how work would be placed and installed.  Drawings and/ or sketches.  A current CV.  Examples of previous work in photographs, slides or catalogue.  Title and Sub Title of the piece.  A4 SAE for return of materials

*Please ensure that individual items are clearly labelled.  Budget.  The maximum budget for each commission is €45,000.  This includes second stage artist fees if the commissioning body deems it necessary to seek further information from artists. It also includes artist’s fees, documentation costs, travel, materials, transport, design, fabrication, installation costs, lighting, signage, insurance and VAT. An additional sum may be available for ancillary works if required subject to approval in advance from the local authority.  Timescale.  As this is a rolling commission for a panel of artists. Artists should indicate a proposed time scale for artwork. The first commission is expected to be available from January 2011.  Applications. MARY IMMACULATE COLLEGE

PUBLIC ART COMMISSION THROUGH THE PER CENT FOR ART PROGRAMME. Mary Immaculate College (MIC) is inviting expressions of interest under the Public Art – Per Cent for Art Scheme from established artists wishing to create unique work/s in any medium with an allocated budget of €100,000.   Following a major capital investment programme to a total of €40 million, two new buildings have been completed in MIC, Tailteann and Teamhair/Tara, enabling the complete reshaping of the campus.  The overall budget for the design, supply, fitting and installation of the entire project will be €100,000 inclusive of all costs, project management, travel and other expenses, VAT, insurance and other charges.  Deadline for expressions of interest is Thursday 9th September 2010 @ 3pm.   Applications must be received no later than Thursday 9 September 2010 at 3 p.m. and clearly addressed to:

N21 Castleisland Bypass - Artistic Embellishment Scheme The Bypass Scheme 

The N21 Castleisland Bypass Road Improvement Scheme comprises a 5.4 km bypass on the western side of Castleisland town, linking the N23 Farranfore Road to the N21 Limerick Road. The construction of the Bypass scheme commenced in May 2009 and is due to be completed in December 2010 or earlier.   Kerry County Council seeks proposals from Artists to provide a suitable artwork piece for this Road Improvement Scheme in accordance with the commission requirements listed in this brief which are outlined hereunder. 

The Brief.  The adjudicating panel is looking for a roadside artwork for this scheme which reflects and draws on the landscape, geography, social and cultural traditions of the area. The artwork should be unique to the area with a strong artistic impact.  It should be distinctive and site appropriate.  The commission requires that the artwork be suitably durable, having regard to the climatic conditions of the area. Offaly Local Authorities Public Art Commissioning Programme 2010/2012 Call for submissions

Offaly Local Authorities (Offaly County Council, Tullamore, Birr and Edenderry Town Councils) now invites visual artists, musicians, writers, filmmakers, dance artists, drama practitioners, etc to be selected onto a panel for potential public arts commissions. This invitation will remain open on a continuous basis until the end of 2012.Offaly Local Authorities intend to maximize the Government's 'Per Cent for Art Scheme' to create innovative and original high quality public experiences in the arts for those residing in and visiting Offaly. Gorey Educate Together National School, County Wexford Public Art Commission                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Gorey Educate Together National School, County Wexford, invites submissions from composers/musical dramatists for the composition and implementation of a work of musical theatre (Minimum duration: 30 minutes.) The total budget for this commission is €30,000, including production costs. Please find attached the brief.
