Game Set Match - Dramatic Canapés

A tasty cocktail of comedy monologues and sketches from Castlebar drama group Game Set Match (formerly the Tennis Club Players), offering the audience a flavour of some of the funniest plays from around the world, from the delectable Shirley Valentine to a delicious display of Alan Ayckbourn’s Mother Figure.  

A sumptuous feast of comedy and light hearted entertainment sure to leave you shouting for seconds.

Presented as a fundraiser for Castlebar Tennis Club.

Santa and the Present Pirates

Santa and the Present Pirates, Thursday, December 15. Three shows, 10 a.m., 11.30 a.m. & 1 p.m. Places still available for for 1 p.m. show. To book call 097 81079. €8 per child, teachers/parent free.

Santa and his Chief Elf Poggle have packed the sleigh full of presents at the North Pole late on Christmas Eve, Doc his faithful dog is keeping guard. Santa sits down to have some tea and biscuits before they set off and he falls asleep in his favourite chair. When he’s asleep Captain Crabbe and his crew of wicked Pirates sneak in and steal all the Christmas presents and Doc, Santa’s dog gets kidnapped as well cos’ he was hiding in the presents keeping guard. When Santa wakes up there’s no evidence of who took the presents, except for a big black flag over the fireplace with a skull and cross bones drawn on it. It can mean one thing only….The Present Pirates! Santa, Poggle the elf, & Twinkle the fairy try to track the pirates

down, rescue Doc and get the presents back and save Christmas before it’s too late. Together they embark on a series of adventures taking them to the pirate cave, where they meet a host of colourful characters - the madcap Tucans, Myrtle the Mermaid, who help - and hinder - them in their search the evil Captain Crabbe and the presents before Captain Crabbe has time to feed Doc the Dog to his pet shark… This new production mixes music, song, puppets and actors in a magical adventure for Christmas.

 

 

Clann Machua Drama Group, Kiltimagh

Clann Machua Drama Group, Kiltimagh return to the Townhall Theatre on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd December when they present two hilarious comedies, Babysitting Calvin and Last Tango in little Grimley,  together with an extract from Sive.

Calvin is a ten month baby whose mother is going out for the night and Bob and Laura come over to babysit How difficult can it be but Calvin is no ordinary baby as we all find out . Director Seamus Corry has put together a talented cast including Paul Brennan as Calvin, Marie Walsh as Katie .Brian Cunningham as the unfortunate Bob , Mary Dwyer as Laura and Vanessa Ryan as Donna a girl who knows how to have a good time .

The second play on the night Last Tango in little Grimley sees Sean Langan making his debut as a Director with Clann Machua with the very funny production which goes behind the scenes of the local drama group who are hugely in debt and need to come up with a plan for their next performamnce. The cast includes Joan King as Margaret, Iggy Bownes as Gordan, Rebecca Farrington as the ditsy Joyce and local stage manager, Bernard, is Henry Kelly. Also watch out for a cameo performamnce from Michael D Freeley as Mrs Pimms.

The nights drama is completed with a tribute to John B Keanes Sive which is directed by Joan King and the cast includes Ray McGreal, Ava Dwyer, Emmet Farrington, Gerry King, Michael D Freeley,Sean Langan, Rebecca Farrington and Henry Kelly.
