Gallery Manager, Belfast Exposed Photography (Part time) £20,000 p.a pro rata

As Gallery Manager you will be primarily responsible for supporting the realisation of the organisation’s gallery programme, providing logistical, technical and administrative support to the Senior Curator. With lead responsibility to ensure the smooth day to day running of the gallery, duties range from overseeing installations to organising transport and equipment hire, liaising with visiting artists and keeping front of house staff briefed on technical and artistic matters relating to programming.

The post-holder must be practical, resourceful and enthusiastic, and have excellent organisational and technical skills. They will report directly to the Senior Curator and work as a team with the Director, General Manager and other programming managers and administrative support.

Visual Artists News Sheet Seeks Critics

The Visual Artists News Sheet is launching a reviews section – entitled CRITIQUE – later this year; and would like to hear from prospective writers, who would be interested and available to serve on a panel of reviewers.

CRITIQUE will comprise of six reviews, published in each edition of the VAN – adding up to 36 reviews annually.

The reviews will be commissioned to reflect upon and critique a diversity contemporary Irish visual arts practice – in terms of media, generation and geography.

CRITIQUE will strive to represent a range of work from artists at various stages in their careers, showing in venues across the country and making visual artworks of all kinds.

CRITIQUE will reflect the broader aims of The Visual Artists News Sheet to be relevant to the broad spectrum of visual artists working in all disciplines.

Our internship programme offers participants an unparalleled opportunity to experience and engage in all aspects of a grassroots initiative in a very real and involved fashion; from the directors to technicians, all of our small staff are extremely hands-on and participate in making IMOCA function. This allows internship candidates to participate in all aspects of running a non-governmental organization:

* Daily administrative, clerical, accounting and legal duties* Grant and sponsorship research and application* Marketing, promotions and Public Relations* Contextual art-field research, curation and exhibition planning* Artist liaising and support* Project management and execution* Technical and trade skills

Internships can be designed around a specific set of practices or duties for a specified duration, or attached to a specific project for which that the intern will act as an assistant project coordinator from start to finish.

 

Culture Night Manager - Belfast (deadline extended)

Belfast has enjoyed successful Culture Nights in September 2009 and September 2010. With a growing reputation for the event and on-going enthusiasm from participating organisations, funders and the public, the city is looking forward to another brilliant night on the 23rd of September 2011.

Information on past Culture Nights can be found at www.culturenightbelfast.com .Culture Night Belfast invites applications for a fixed-term six-month contract for event management services, working as part of a team, to deliver Culture Night Belfast on the 23rd of September 2011. The fee for 6 months is £12,000. Services are to be provided on a free-lance basis.

The Culture Night Manager will be based in Belfast city-centre. This contract is being offered dependent on funding and there is the possibility of a one-month extension depending on start date.
