South West Mayo Development Company  are running a Small Grants scheme under Goal 1 of the LCDP.  Grants will be in the range of €200 - €600.  Outreach grant clinics will be run – see schedule below.  The types of projects that will be eligible will be information talks, newsletters, information booklets etc., but all projects must benefit disadvantaged groups in some way.  Closing date is the 9th May.

Call for applications: artsandhealth.ie bursary to produce documentation of an arts and health project

artsandhealth.ie invites applications from arts and health practitioners (artists working in healthcare settings, healthcare professionals, arts and health partnerships etc.) for a bursary to produce documentation of an arts and health project. The proposed documentation will take the form of a short film / audio documentary and / or publication which can be widely disseminated with a view to encouraging high quality, creative documentation of arts and health practice and creating a greater national understanding of the nature of this practice.

This bursary is funded by the Arts Council and the Cork Arts and Health Programme, HSE South.

DEADLINE: TOURING AND DISSEMINATION OF WORK SCHEME – JANUARY TO JUNE 2015

The deadline for applications for tours beginning in the period January to June 2015 will be Thursday 8 May 2014. Application forms and guidelines will be available online from 8 April 2014.

As in the previous round of this scheme, applications are welcome for tours with performances / exhibitions on both sides of the border.

The same priorities and criteria will apply to both jurisdictions, and applications, as at present, will need to show a working engagement between producers and venues.

Pre-application workshops will take place in April 2014 when advice on the organisation of tours will be given and any questions you have can be answered (please see pre-application touring workshops article in this issue).

All administration for this scheme will be done by the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon.

SPLANC! ARTS DOCUMENTARY SCHEME

The Arts Council and TG4 invite submissions for the 8th season of Splanc! – the arts documentary scheme that supports the creative exploration of the arts in Ireland.

This year the scheme aims to support ambitious landmark factual films on a contemporary  artistic theme that are notably creative in their execution. A total fund of €120,000 is available and will support two hour-long films or one feature length film. Proposed documentaries may offer an exploration of any artform area and may combine performance elements.  Projects must be in Irish or bilingual. Films should be conceived for the TG4 primetime programme schedule and should be appropriate for theatrical exhibition at festivals and for secondary exhibition on other platforms.

TG4 will administer the commissioning of the films and TG4′s Terms of Trade will apply. Representatives from TG4 and the Arts Council, together with an external independent film-maker, will select the projects for production.

TG4 and the Arts Council encourage the employment of film workers working through the Irish language.

Film duration: 50 minutes to 70 minutes

Production Budget: €120,000

Format: HD with English subtitles

Language Format: Irish language or bilingual – Irish and English

Submissions should be sent to TG4, Baile na hAbhann, Co na Gaillimhe.

Deadline for receipt of submissions is 1 pm, Friday, 30 May, 2014.

Submissions must include:

Splanc! commissioning form (available from www.tg4.ie)

Detailed treatment;

Notes outlining intended approach;

Detailed production budget and budget summary (including music and subject clearances,        

deliverables and marketing materials);

CVs of the creative team involved in the proposal including director, producer, writer, editor;

Evidence of ownership.  Copies of all option and writers agreements entered into in respect of story and script if applicable to the project;

Written confirmation in the form of clearances and permissions of key subject’s willingness to participate;

3 excerpts of Director’s work (not show reel);

Any relevant supporting materials.

Successful shortlisted applicants must be available for interview at the beginning of July 2014.

The award for the series will be made by TG4 and standard commissioning terms will apply to the production agreement.  It is expected that projects will be completed and available for broadcast on the TG4 primetime schedule in 2015.

Rehab Group Visual and Performing Arts Fund

Applications for the 2014 round of funding are now being sought from individuals with disabilities and individuals with mental health difficulties working or studying in the arts who require financial support for the forthcoming year and is open to people interested in a wide range of visual and performing arts – from painting, sculpture and graphic art to film, drama, music and dance.

Artists must be aged 17 years of age or over at the time of application.
Applicants can seek funding of between €1,000 and €10,000 per project or individual.

YOUNG ENSEMBLES SCHEME 2014

The Young People, Children and Education (YPCE) Team wishes to advise that applications will be accepted for the Young Ensembles Scheme 2014 from Tuesday, 11 March 2014 for projects taking place between July 2014 and June 2015.

The primary purpose of this award is to support groups of young people between the ages of 12 and 23 to create ambitious and original work together in any art form (e.g.; circus, dance, digital media, film, music, theatre, literature, visual arts or any combination of the above).  Groups/ensembles must be made up of 3 or more members. 

The maximum award available is €10,000.

The deadline for the Young Ensemble Scheme 2014 is Thursday 10 April 2014 at 5:30pm.

New Awards Scheme for Artists with Disabilities

The Arts Council is working with Arts and Disability Ireland to devise a new Awards Scheme for Artists with Disabilities in the Republic of Ireland. Supported by the Arts Council it is anticipated that the scheme will have a fund of €25,000 to distribute as part of its initial pilot phase in 2014.

Specifically targeted at individual artists with disabilities the scheme will launch later this spring and expects to make its first annual round of awards by August 2014. It is intended that the scheme will bring a fresh perspective to supporting artists with disabilities while complementing existing funding and learning opportunities.

The Arts Council’s Artist in the Community Scheme

Twice yearly, the Arts Council offers grants to enable artists and communities of place/or interest to work together on projects.

The aim of the scheme is to encourage intense collaboration between communities of place and/or interest and artists, culminating in an artwork or a project in which the members of the community group and artists work together in order to realise an artistic project or an event. The Artist in the Community Scheme is managed by Create, the national development agency for collaborative arts in social and community contexts. Twice yearly, the Arts Council offers grants to enable artists and communities of place/or interest to work together on projects.

The scheme is open to artists from any of the following artform disciplines: architecture, circus, street art and spectacle, dance, film, literature (Irish and English language), music, opera, theatre, visual arts and traditional arts. The projects can take place in a diverse range of social and community contexts eg arts and health; arts in prisons; arts and older people; arts and cultural diversity. Arts Council Travel & Training Award
Artform & practices: Architecture, Arts participation, Circus, Dance, Film, Literature (English language), Music, Opera, Spectacle, Street arts, Traditional arts, Venues, Visual arts, Young people children and the arts.

Maximum awarded: €8000

There are no formal deadlines for the Travel and Training Award. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Applicants seeking support for formal courses (postgraduate or equivalent) and for other eligible opportunities must submit their application at least six weeks before their course or work programme begins. You are advised that the Arts Council cannot guarantee to assess applications received less than six weeks before a course or work programme begins.

Purpose and priorities of award

There are three strands to this award. The principal strand is Travel and Training Outbound, for which the majority of funding is available; the secondary strand is Travel and Training Inbound; a third strand is the CCP International Award.

Mayo County Council Arts Office is currently developing a new five-year strategic arts plan for the county, which will be produced early next year.

We are actively seeking the views of those involved and interested in the arts, at all levels, within the county. This includes arts venues, festivals, artists, communities and people who use, or who benefit from our service.
