International Physical Theatre Laboratory in Italy

The Lab is the part of the multicultural artistic project which will creates a unique encounter, meeting point and artistic platform for artists and performers of different backgrounds, genres, techniques and skills in one team – theatre actors, dancers, choreographers, circus performers and multidisciplinary performers.
The most astonishing phenomena of arts appear on intersection of cultures, when languages and borders become conditional. Such cross-cultural fusion provides unique space for artistic exchange and encourages artists to search for contemporary universal theatre language in the performance, the methods of training and rehearsals.
Perfect practical conditions are organized for such encounter.
The group accommodation and food are organized at the seaside hotel centre.
The beach is just 10 steps from the hotel surrounded with the big territory of the pine tree park.
The nearest international airport is Pisa Galilei Airport.
From the airport participants can take a direct train to the town where the venue is located (about 60 min from the airport).
The train station is located six km from the workshop place.
Please bear in mind that the group is forming quickly. Participants should book their spots in advance.

LEARN & DEVELOP SKILLS TO LEAD YOUR OWN CEREMONIES and ACT as an INDEPENDENT CELEBRANT
Rites of Passage Midsummer School led by Gilly Adams & Sue Gill
20-23 June, £395 - earlybirds less 10% Swarthmoor Hall, Ulverston, Cumbria
Many of us experience ritual and ceremony in our lives in an inarticulate way, plagued by anxiety and embarrassment: we may settle for a formulaic response to marking birthdays; we may give a glance to the changing of the seasons; we bear witness at weddings and funerals. Yet we may also experience the absence of ritual at key moments of change or loss when we yearn to find a vehicle for our emotions.
This intensive 4 day course offers an opportunity to explore how ceremony and celebration feature, and have featured, in our own lives in order to empower ourselves to be bolder in honouring significant beginnings and endings and to facilitate that process for others in an imaginative and creative way.
This is not a nuts and bolts course but one shaped to fulfil the needs and aspirations of everyone involved. Journey is always a key metaphor in the work and the focus is on rolling up our sleeves and making ceremony - both public and private - in a safe environment. Gilly Adams and Sue Gill have been working together for many years and bring their own particular brand of humour and insight to the task of sharing their practical experience of secular celebrancy.
Visiting artist Hannah Fox will lead a hands-on session, passing on simple techniques to enhance and transform the space for ceremony.
Food is always a key element in ceremony and celebration, and since we will be eating home cooked lunches and evening meals together, feasting will be a special theme. The working day will be 10am – 9pm, finishing at 2pm on the last day. Fees include tuition, all materials, and meals throughout.
There are 12 places available at £395 with a 10% discount for the first 6 people who book and pay in full before March 1st 2014. A few of these places have gone, but there are still discounts available. Email us for details of how to pay. Payment by instalments can be arranged. Accommodation and camping is available on site, but not included in the cost of the workshop.
