Overview
The Arts Office administers grants for both professional and non-professional artists across all art forms. Applications are assessed by independent, external, expert panels.
Arts Acts Grants
In Brief:
For Mayo based groups/organisations seeking assistance with activities/events which stimulate public interest in the arts, promote knowledge, appreciation and practice of the arts, or assist in improving standards of the Arts in the County. Arts Grants are awarded to groups and individuals who satisfy the policies of the Council in relation to the development of the Arts in the County.

Tyrone Guthrie regional Bursary Scheme
In Brief:
Available for artists living in or born in Mayo. Two artists will spend two weeks at the TG centre at Annaghmakerrig, Co.Monaghan. Workspaces and all board and lodging expenses will be provided. Applicants are required to demonstrate significant achievement in their chosen field.

Mayo County Council & Liam Walsh Award
In Brief:
Available to practising artists based in Mayo, or born in Mayo. Practitioners of all art forms can apply and the purpose is to enable support and development in their professional work.
Deadline:
Date varies year to year, 2010 deadline will be announced in January 2010.

Music Recital Scheme
In Brief:
Available to musical and choral groups in the County to enable them to provide free recitals to members of the public (fundraisers for charity are not eligible).
Deadline:
A maximum of 2 recitals per group can be funded annually, applications can be submitted at any point in the year, but must be in advance of the event, no payments can be made retrospectively.

Music Recording Assistance Award
In Brief:
Available to musicians in the County, all forms of music will be considered. Two awards available to enable musicians to make professional music recordings of current works in progress. No completed and packaged CDs can be funded.
Deadline:
Date varies year to year, usually in October.

Application Procedure:
A written application is required explaining what the money is to be spent on, together with a CV of musical career or experience, a copy of the recording on tape (good enough quality to be heard clearly) and a lyric sheet if relevant. To be sent to the Arts Office.
Applications assessed by an independent, impartial panel of music industry professionals.
Music Recording Assistance Award - Information Sheet
Guarantee Against Loss Scheme
In Brief:
Available to artists/promoters of touring theatre, music events. Mayo County Council can guarantee against a loss incurred against the performance fee of the artist/group.
Deadline:
A maximum of two applications may be submitted at any time of the year prior to the event; no retrospective payments can be made.
Maximum Amount Awarded:
€635
Application Procedure:
The promoter must apply to the Arts Office and provide all relevant information including ticket sales, venue capacity etc.
Guarantee Against Loss Guidelines
Amateur Drama Awards
In Brief:
Available to Amateur Drama groups in the County. Criteria are innovation, development of excellence, quality and creativity which improve the Amateur Drama sector in the area.
Deadline:
Varies year to year, usually around November.

Application Procedure:
Application form, provided by the Arts Office, accompanied by any supporting material, images, videos, press etc.
Applications assesses by an independent expert selection board.

Visual Arts Awards
Materials Assistance Awards
In Brief:
Available for practicing professional artists, living in Mayo, to assist them with the purchase of art materials.
Deadline:
Applications can be submitted any time but are assessed at the end of each quarter, i.e. end March, June, September and December.
Maximum Amount Awarded:
€500
Application Procedure:
Artist to submit an up to date CV, artists statement, minimum of 6 images and list of materials to be purchased including costs.
Exhibition Assistance Awards
In Brief:
Available for professional artists, living in Mayo, with a confirmed exhibition in a publicly funded gallery.
Deadline:
Applications can be submitted any time but are assessed at the end of each quarter, i.e. end March, June, September and December.
Maximum Amount Awarded:
€500
Application Procedure:
As above, also including a copy of offer letter from exhibiting venue. Applications must be received at least 6 weeks prior to the exhibition in order for acknowledgements to be included in press/invites.
