Following the appointment of its Board and Chief Executive, Culture Company 2013 Ltd is recruiting a small, agile and effective delivery team at the heart of the exciting and transformational opportunity that is UK City of Culture 2013.

CULTURAL PROGRAMMERS

The Company is recruiting a team of up to six programmers, in which two senior programmers will lead on:

• Developing partnerships with local and international cultural institutions who will deliver key aspects of the programme, including commissioning and working with cultural producers on large scale events such as the opening celebration Sons and Daughters, the Return of Colmcille, Field Day proposals and the closing celebration “Our New Story”;

• Developing neighbourhood projects in the city and with communities of interest, including resourcing and connecting locally driven projects such as the Creative Classroom project.

Reporting to the two senior programmers, four programmers will manage large scale events, partnerships, neighbourhood projects and delivery of the Creative Classroom project. All our programmers must have experience of delivery in the spirit of the guiding themes of our winning bid.

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

The Company requires an excellent operations manager to take responsibility for implementation and oversight of its business, including business planning, financial management, corporate sponsorship and preparation of the Company’s financial legacy.

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING

The Company requires an excellent communications professional to take responsibility for communications, marketing and branding, including choreographing a distinct, attractive media presence with creativity and digital connectivity at the heart of local, national and international media campaigns.

Visual Artists News Sheet Seeks Critics

The Visual Artists News Sheet is launching a reviews section – entitled CRITIQUE – later this year; and would like to hear from prospective writers, who would be interested and available to serve on a panel of reviewers.

CRITIQUE will comprise of six reviews, published in each edition of the VAN – adding up to 36 reviews annually.

The reviews will be commissioned to reflect upon and critique a diversity contemporary Irish visual arts practice – in terms of media, generation and geography.

CRITIQUE will strive to represent a range of work from artists at various stages in their careers, showing in venues across the country and making visual artworks of all kinds.

CRITIQUE will reflect the broader aims of The Visual Artists News Sheet to be relevant to the broad spectrum of visual artists working in all disciplines.

Dublin Dance Festival 2011 – Volunteering Opportunities

Dublin Dance Festival is currently looking for volunteers in the areas of marketing and promotion, artist liaison, front of house and event support for the duration of the 2011 Festival (13 – 28 May).

If this is your first time volunteering with a Festival, you’ll find it can be a very rewarding way to meet new people, share your skills and get to see lots of excellent dance performances in return for your time and enthusiasm. This year’s Festival comprises of 21 artists/companies from 10 countries over 16 days in 6 Dublin city venues… and talks, workshops, master classes, a film programme and a headphone disco.

Our internship programme offers participants an unparalleled opportunity to experience and engage in all aspects of a grassroots initiative in a very real and involved fashion; from the directors to technicians, all of our small staff are extremely hands-on and participate in making IMOCA function. IMOCA Graduate Residency Award 2011

The Irish Museum of Contemporary Art [IMOCA] is pleased to open the application process for the 4th annual IMOCA Graduate Residency Award. The award includes a 1-year working studio residency at Moxie Studios, facilitated reviews and technical consultation with working artists, and a solo show at the culmination of the residency.

The residency is open to all 2011 graduates within the Republic of Ireland, regardless of degree or course. Only online applications will be accepted. Deadline for submissions is Friday 29 April 2011, 5pm.

The Arts Council has issued a series of requests for proposals from experienced practitioners wishing to provide services as Arts Advisers in a broad range of artforms and arts practice areas.  

While the specification of each role is unique, many include assisting in the appraisal and assessment of funding applications and provision of critical advice on artistic work. The call has been issued via www.etenders.gov.ie and potential applicants are advised to check this site for full information on the roles and how to tender. The council are seeking a broad range of advisers including a Young People, Children and Education Adviser. The Irish Theatre Magazine seeks an Editor

The Irish Theatre Magazine is currently seeking a new Editor.

Irish Theatre Magazine (ITM) is an online cultural journal providing in-depth critical coverage of theatre and all aspects of the performing arts. It is the only journal of its kind in Ireland, and was founded in 1999.

It is currently recruiting a new Editor to build on the publication’s success and reputation, and lead it into the next phase of its development.

Working with a small team, the Editor is responsible for leading and managing the magazine, and for all of its editorial content.

The Gallery, now entering its 4th year of operation, is recruiting an enthusiastic and motivated person to fundraise and cultivate new and existing relationships with supporters with the goal of Science Gallery achieving long-term financial sustainability.The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to take ownership of initiatives and to see them through to a successful conclusion. Proven experience in fundraising and/or business development, excellent proposal-writing skills and experience of creating strong and fruitful relationships, will be required. National Gallery of Ireland Seeks Director

The Public Appointments Service on behalf of the Board of Governors and Guardians of the National Gallery of Ireland intends to hold a competition for the purpose of recommending a person for appointment to the position of Director of The National Gallery of Ireland. The Gallery is currently undertaking an ambitious master development programme to restore and upgrade the historic wings and also has plans to add some new facilities. The new Director will take up the appointment at an exciting and significant time as the next phase of the development moves forward with pace.The person appointed will have a record of leadership and influencing others to action and creating an achievable vision.

More specifically, the appointee must be an exceptional communicator and listener. He or she must have prior success in directing efficient and effective gallery or similar operations. Market Studios: Part-Time Gallery/Studio Administrator with Studio Residency

Duration: Commencing April 2011 to April 2012 with scope to extend beyond this period.

The Ideal Candidate:

This position is open to a visual artist/curator/arts admin who has an interest in being involved in running a studio space and developing on existing arts management or organisational skills and experience.
