The Three Tenors (Ireland)
They hardly need an introduction. Hailed as “Ireland’s greatest voices”, Ireland’s very own and hugely successful The Three Tenors make a welcome return to the Linenhall. The trio of John Scott, David Martin and Declan Kelly, with their amazing voices and friendly approach, bring a very warm atmosphere to their concert, singing a wide selection of popular songs. They create a special rapport with their audience and receive standing ovations at the end of every concert. Their unique ‘crossover/classic mix’ features the world’s most beautiful songs from Elvis (Love Me Tender), Sinatra (My Way), Simon & Garfunkel (Bridge Over Troubled Water), Leonard Cohen (Halleluia), Pavarotti (Nessun Dorma), and a unique and very lively Irish selection! Zoe Rahman Trio, with special guest Idris Rahman
Since winning Perrier Young Jazz Musician of the Year in 1999, pianist Zoe Rahman has quickly established herself as one of the brightest stars on the contemporary jazz scene. Her second album, Melting Pot, was nominated in 2006 for the Mercury Music Prize and more recently she achieved an achingly beautiful fusion of jazz, classical and Bengali music in her highly-acclaimed Where Rivers Meet. Zoe’s willingness to push musical boundaries is matched by her technical brilliance. Noted for her inventiveness, explosive technique and the tumbling cascades of notes she often trades with her brother, honey-toned clarinetist Idris Rahman, this mesmerising pianist is aided and abetted by a top-notch rhythm section featuring American drummer Gene Calderazzo and British bass player Oli Hayhurst. In the words of jazz reviewer Chris Parker, brace yourself for “all the punch, pith and sheer verve of the Rahman live act.”

David Munnelly Band
One of the hottest bands on the traditional Celtic music scene, the David Munnelly Band was started in 2000 by Irish button accordion wizard David Munnelly, who has toured and recorded with The Chieftains and with DeDanann. With members from Mayo, Sligo, Donegal and Tyrone, this exciting sextet combines button accordion, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, piano, bodhrán and flute for a high-spirited instrumental sound coloured with a bit of jazz and ragtime and extraordinary percussive dancing topped with the singing of All-Ireland champion Shauna Mullin. "The Irish band to see" (according to The Irish Voice) has won special acclaim for incorporating the sound of the 1920s and 1930s and such bands from that era as the Flanagan Brothers with its Traditional roots. Linda Welby Concert
Loughrea native, Linda Welby, who is fast becoming one of Ireland’s leading singer – songwriters and has already gained high international recognition, is due to perform in Áras Inis Gluaire, on her first ever tour, on Wednesday, 9th February. Linda’s songs are amongst the most requested on radio stations all over Ireland. She has hosted a television show in the USA, on a major Nashville television station, and was also invited to meet her life-long idol, Pat Boone, in Beverley Hills, Los Angeles. Welby is a musician, a songwriter, a company director, a project executive, and a mother of eight children! She plays the fiddle, the accordion, the keyboard, the banjo and the drums. This extraordinary woman’s new album, A Story to Tell, is a collection of contemporary songs and music, all written and composed by herself. Amazingly, Linda wondered how she would cope when she had only three children, “but it seemed to get easier as time went on ... I don’t think I’m that busy!”, she laughs. Linda’s grandfather, Paddy Doorhy, was an accomplished fiddle player and played with the first Ballinakill céilí band. Her father, also called Paddy Doorhy, played drums and toured extensively with many bands and noted musicians.
