FOLK MUSIC + POETRY. Thursday 10th March @ 8.00pm  Tony Reidy, Ger Wolfe & Ger Reidy

A triple-bill of contemporary folk music and poetry from three established talents. Since the 80s, Aughagower-born singer-songwriter Tony Reidy has been responsible for a string of highly regarded albums and enjoys regular airplay both on RTE and BBC Radio. Last November saw the release of his fifth album, Hayshed Days, which like its predecessors has received critical and popular acclaim both in Ireland and further afield. Cork singer-songwriter Ger Wolfe has earned a reputation as one of Ireland’s most unique contemporary singer/songwriters. Since 1998 he has released five albums of original music on his own label Raggedy Records, and his highly-regarded, “heart-born” songs have been covered by the likes of Karan Casey, Danú, and Sharon Shannon. From the 90s, Aughagower poet Ger Reidy has established himself as one of the strongest and most enduringly popular literary voices in Mayo, with two collections, Pictures from a Reservation and the recent Drifting Under the Moon. Put them all together and you have an evening guaranteed to engage and entertain. Adm: 15 euro / 12 euro (concessions)

“Ger Reidy… fresh and uncompromisingly honest." - Dermot Healy, Cyphers

COUNTRY & IRISH, Wednesday 23rd March @ 8.00pm, Gerry Carney

Singer songwriter Gerry Carney is well known for his original ballads, based on everyday simple storylines. Gerry was born and raised near Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo where he still resides. His infectious lyrics address all aspects of life, and some of his most recent songs, as witnessed on his recent CD Paddy (including the Irish Chart-breaking single of the same name), echo themes of family, emigration and backward glances at one’s homeland. His previous album The Flame was an Album of the Week on 2FM, and he has performed a number of duets with Niamh Kavanagh, as well as making appearances on UTV and RTÉ television. He also wrote Cottage by the Sea, which has been recorded by a number of artists and is one of the most requested Irish songs on radio.  Come and experience the man and his music live. Adm: 15 euro / 12 euro (concessions)

“Paddy has captured the public imagination and is without fear of contradiction the big hit for Summer 2010. Gerry is moulding himself into one of the strongest singer/songwriters this country has produced in a long time.” - Western People
