OTHELLO CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS with Jean Tuomey
On Wednesdays commencing 23rd March (for five weeks), from 7.30pm-9.30pm
Would you like a literary focus for your writing? Always fancied getting your teeth into the work of Shakespeare in a very hands-on way? To complement Bruiser Theatre Company’s production of Othello on April 6th at the Linenhall, we are offering a writing course. Each week, scenes from Shakespeare’s Othello will be read. This will be followed by relaxation exercises and writing from the themes emerging. On the third night of the series you will attend Bruiser Theatre Company’s performance of the play which will be discussed in the following sessions. Previous knowledge of the play or special interest in drama are not necessary … just a willingness to give it a go. PLEASE NOTE: This is not a drama course, it is a writing course, providing space for expression. You will be requested to bring your own copy of the play to the classes. The course is under the guidance of Jean Tuomey, who was a secondary school teacher for 23 years, and has a passionate enthusiasm for creative writing. Jean has been facilitating creative writing groups for ten years and has led many extremely successful writing projects at the Linenhall. Othello Creative Writing Workshops for Adults runs over five Wednesday evening commencing March 23rd from 7.30pm to 9.30pm (continuing March 30th, April 6th, 13th, 20th). Cost per head for the workshop series is 60 euro and includes attendance at Bruiser Theatre Company’s performance of Othello. Places are limited, and booking is ESSENTIAL. WORKSHOP. Illustration Workshop for 16 years+ and adults with artist Ross Stewart. Saturday 2nd April 11.30am-1.00pm
Here’s an incredible opportunity to explore the art of illustration with Ross Stewart, the Art Director of the Oscar nominated The Secret of Kells. The workshop will involve both talk and demonstration as well as some hands on drawing under Ross Stewart’s expert guidance. Topics covered will include the importance of silhouette, visual language, colour temperature, and readability. This workshop will be of particular interest to people who have an art background. Ross Stewart is an Irish artist working in painting, illustration and animation, notably conceptual design and art direction. He has exhibited across Ireland and the UK over the last 11 years and his work is held in public and private collections internationally. Illustration Workshop for 16 years+ and adults takes place on Saturday 2nd April, 11.30am – 1.00pm. The cost for the workshop is 20 euro and booking is ESSENTIAL.
