Fish Bowl Gallery at Exchange - Call for Submissions

We are seeking submissions for our space to encourage new artists in the city.

“A space that is useful (for the artist) as a tool in the re-search/experimental process of constructing an artwork. Not simply a static site of exhibition.

In this manner a space that functions in as many ways as possible as a utility in the functioning of an artwork.

The utilizing function of the space is central to the idea of an ‘exchange’ whereby the space provides a necessary function for the artist, other than one prescribed by a traditional exhibition format.”

New opportunities for aspiring performers as MT4Uth announce auditions for exciting 2011 programme.

Ireland’s performing arts education charity for 11-25 year olds, Music Theatre 4 Youth (MT4Uth), are proud to announce we will once again be rolling out an exciting programme for 2011.  The nation’s young people are offered the unique opportunity to work with internationally renowned names from the profession from London’s West End and throughout Europe.

This year will see aspiring performers audition in front of the founder of the National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT), Jeremy James Taylor OBE; choreographer Johanna Hybinette (West Side Story, Jesus Christ Superstar European Tours) and Henry Gilbert, GuildHall London Graduate, who works as MT4Uth’s Assistant Director. The top one hundred auditionees will gain a coveted place on our Level 2 & 3 programmes and a further forty will be placed in our brand new Academy 4 Ireland opening in Belfast this spring.

Talented young people from all over Ireland are invited to our auditions which will be held on 11th and 12th February in Urban Soul, May Street, Belfast, and in Dublin on Sunday 13th February at The Liffey Trust Centre.  Successful auditionees will secure a place on the organisation’s level 2 or 3 programmes, where they will start the year at our intensive training ‘boot camp’ during the Easter holidays.  Performance showcases will then be held later in the year where our Level 2s will perform Aladdin at The Waterfront Studio in August and we are honoured to announce that our Level 3 production, West Side Story, will be performed as the only youth production at the Belfast Festival At Queens 2011 in October.  Previous successes have included a performance of Godspell at last year’s International Youth Arts Festival, London, which received the only standing ovation of the festival and seen MT4Uth awarded as the ‘Most Innovative and Inspiring Youth Company’. We hope to return to the International Youth Arts Festival 2012 with our tour of West Side Story.

As places are limited to 50 for both level 2 and 3 programmes, a brand new wing to MT4Uth’s core programme will be introduced.  Academy 4 Ireland’s Weekend Academy will provide more young people with access to top level training on a regular basis.  Led by an artistic team from London’s West End, with assistance from local practitioners, the academy will develop skills in acting, singing and dancing and will be open to young people aged 11-25 years. As part of this academy we will be launching our first ‘Mini MT4Uth’ programme where we will offer introductory musical theatre classes to 7 – 10yr olds.

For more information and to register for MT4Uth auditions  please contact 02890331096 or admin@mt4uth.com.  Deadline for registering for auditions is Friday 4th February 2011.

MT4Uth Patron Niamh Perry (Fleck in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies and Academy 4 Ireland Ambassador Jayne Wisener (Johanna in Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd) join our MT4Uth young performers in celebrating the company’s 2010 success.

Exhibiting at Turn-berlin. Turn-berlin is an artist funded space, with a large gallery in the middle of the biggest concentration of art in Europe. We are working to find the most effective ways of progressing an artists name and reputation. By introducing a more integrated approach we can be more effective and develop wider opportunities. The intense experience of showing work in a gallery is the best way to have work seen. To get the most from  exhibiting which can be a relatively short event, to include it as part of a comprehensive package gives more considered exposure. Developing a name is the only way forward, it takes time and a lot of determination. This is why many artists are finding new ways of being seen. If you don’t exhibit you are only doing half of the job, but taking a positive approach to exhibiting should include other forms. We are now big enough to be a representational gallery offering a full promotional package.
