Wellcome Trust – Arts Awards
Deadline: 27 July & 26 October 2012
The Wellcome Trust is inviting organisations and individuals to apply for funding through its Arts Awards. The Arts Awards support projects that engage the public with biomedical science through the arts including dance, drama, performance arts, visual arts, music, film, craft, photography, creative writing or digital media.
Applications are invited for projects of up to £30,000 through their small and medium-sized grant programme, and for projects above £30,000 through their large grant programme. The aim of the awards is to support arts projects that reach new audiences which may not traditionally be interested in science and provide new ways of thinking about the social, cultural and ethical issues around contemporary science.
The scheme is open to a wide range of people including, among others, artists, scientists, curators, filmmakers, writers, producers, directors, academics, science communicators, teachers, arts workers and education officers. The Community Foundation for Ireland - Apply for Grassroots Grants
The Community Foundation for Irelandworks with community and voluntary groups in the Republicof Ireland. Through the Grassroots Grants Scheme it aims to support the disadvantaged in our communities by providing small grants for specific projects that will contribute to alleviating isolation and disadvantage. Since 2000, the scheme has supported hundreds of groups in this way.
The Grassroots Grants Scheme has allowed us to build links and forge relationships with those working at grassroots level in Irish society. The outcomes we learn from projects we fund give us a bank of knowledge and a unique perspective on the issues of greatest concern within the sector. The Process
Applicant organisations should always begin by reading the CRITERIA. The Target Area, costs, and timing should be taken into account. There are four rounds of Grassroots Grants per year. Please consult the Application Page for the current closing date.
- Apply online here or download the Word application form. The Grants team will assess the application based on suitability and acknowledge your application by email, indicating when you can expect the outcome.
- The Grants Expert Panel, a sub-committee of The Foundation’s board, meet and using their knowledge and expertise they make the overall decisions regarding applications. In the final step, all grants are approved by the Board of The Foundation.
- The Grants Team will inform you of the outcome. If unsuccessful we will endeavour, where possible, to suggest other avenues for funding.
- If your application is successful, payment will be made using the details you provided in your application. You will be expected to acknowledge your application and accept any limitations set down by the Grants Expert Panel.
- An Outcome Report will be due six months after the date your grant is issued.

IntroArt announce 2012 youth based ‘Arts Abilities Programme’
The aim of this programme is to support young people with a disability into their local mainstream community through integrated arts workshops. This year IntroArt are looking to work with 6 organisations or youth groups whereby each group will be supported to run 6 arts based workshops, integrating young people with disabilities. Ideally up to 12 of each and two leaders would suit this project. This project is available to youth groups and organisations Nationwide.
We can work with each group to develop a timetable of when they want to start running their projects, workshops can run consecutively or suit the needs of each group’s members. Each group can choose their own art format and we can also help in sourcing Arts Facilitators.
Important: IntroArt will provide funding to cover the costs of Training Materials and a qualified Arts Facilitator.
Our agreement with each group will include an end of project report with feedback from the participants and Leaders. Two Leaders must always be available for the workshops. IntroArt’s multi-award winning youth projects have supported over 5000 youth with disabilities into their local youth and community services nationwide for over 12 years now. We are looking forwards to continuing this work in 2011 and beyond.

2012: EU Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations
The aim of the Year is to encourage and support efforts to mobilise demographic opportunities and to embrace the contribution that older people can make to society by promoting active ageing.
The Year also aims to help create better job opportunities and working conditions for the growing numbers of older people inEurope; help them take an active role in society and encourage healthy ageing.
Some of the objectives of the Year are:
- to raise general awareness of the value of active ageing in order to highlight the useful contribution older people make to society and the economy and to do more to mobilise the potential of older people
- to promote active ageing policies, to identify and disseminate good practice and to encourage cooperation and synergies
- to offer a framework for commitment and concrete action to enable all stakeholders to develop innovative solutions, policies and long-term strategies related to active ageing and intergenerational solidarity and
- to promote activities which will help to combat age discrimination, to overcome age related stereotypes and to remove barriers, particularly with regard to employability.
Active ageing includes creating more opportunities for older people thereby combating social exclusion, fostering active participation and encouraging healthy ageing.

Commission's new Creative Europe programme
Thousands of people working in cinema, TV, culture, music, performing arts, heritage and related areas are set to benefit from increased EU support under the new Creative Europe programme unveiled by the European Commission at the end of November.
CreativeEuropewill build on the experience and success of the Culture and MEDIA programmes which have supported the cultural and audiovisual sectors for more than 20 years.

With a proposed budget of €1.8 billion for the period 2014-2020, Creative Europe will be a boost forEurope's cultural and creative industries. The proposed budget increase for Creative Europe represents a 37% increase on current spending levels.
The Commission is also proposing to allocate more than €210 million for a new financial guarantee facility, which would enable small operators to access up to €1 billion in bank loans, as well as around €60 million in support of policy cooperation and fostering innovative approaches to audience building and new business models.

Strand 1.2.2 e-forms now online
The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) has now published the e-forms for the upcoming round of Strand1.2.2: literary translation projects. You can find them here.
EU support for Literary Translation is aimed at enhancing knowledge of the literature and literary heritage of fellow Europeans by way of promoting the circulation of literary works between countries. Publishing houses can be awarded grants for translations and publication of works of fiction from one European language into another European language.
