New Ground 2012

“Onsight” a series of summer workshops by Mayo Arts Squad and various artists in the grounds of the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Turlough Park, Castlebar.http://www.museum.ie/en/list/project-new-ground.aspx

“Onsight” is a collaborative project between the Mayo Country Council Arts Office, Mayo Arts Squad and the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life. You are invited to join the various artists in creating a series of site-specific works in the Museum grounds. These drop-in workshops will take place over a number of weeks from May-August 2012 and are suitable for all the family to enjoy.

These workshops will find their inspiration in both the Irish Folklife Collection (which is displayed in the Museum Galleries), and in the grounds of Turlough Park.   Dependence on the land is a strong theme in the Museum’s collection and with this in mind, the artists will use mainly natural materials in their projects.

Participants can join the events as they take place.  No booking required but spaces might be limited. Admission free.
