Centre & Outreach Coordinator at Dance Theatre Ireland

The Centre & Outreach Coordinator is a dynamic position within the Company based in its premises in Dun Laoghaire with management, marketing and administration responsibilities in three primary areas: 1) the programme of Classes for the public at the Centre for Dance 2) the Company's nationwide Educational Outreach Programme of workshops and performances, and 3) the facilities of the Centre for Dance, including the physical plant, studio equipment, studio hire and part-time personnel. This is a dynamic position involving contact with people and high degree of financial management & accountability and analysis. A proven record of personable public client contact, an interest in life-long learning and an appreciative interest in dance or physical leisure pursuits are essential.The Centre for Dance has some 3000 people engaged in dance activities throughout the year. The position requires management and marketing experience in the arts, service or retail sectors, plus technical and business acumen, including banking and experience in desktop communications such as e-bulletins and creating flyers. Fluency in Excel, Publisher and Access. A succinct, yet enthusiastic communicator, who enjoys people, and possesses fluent computer & keyboard skills. ÉIGSE CARLOW ARTS FESTIVAL OPEN SELECTION: CALL

Éigse Carlow Arts Festival is currently inviting applications for their 2009 Éigse Open Selection and Carlow Artists Selection. Éigse will take place from 13 to 21 June 2009 under new Festival Director Tata Connaghan, and this year's exhibitors with the Open Selection and Carlow Artists Selection will be chosen by artist Marie Hanlon. If delivering artworks by hand delivery should be in person to the new VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Arts on College Street on Saturday 25 April 2009 between the hours of 11am and 5pm only. GALWAY ARTS CENTRE: CALL FOR EXHIBITION & STUDIO SUBMISSIONS

Galway Arts Centre invites professional visual artists, curators and other visual art practitioners working in all media to answer an open call for inclusion in the 2010 gallery programme and Galway Arts Centre’s first studio programme, which will take place during August 2009. As part of the studio programme three studios located at Galway Arts Centre with good natural light will be available for use by artists and curators for the month of August, as well as GAC's Black Box space, Nun's Island. Applications for either the exhibition or studio programme should include: - cover letter - current CV - exhibition proposal - images of recent work on CD/DVD, (film/video work on DVD) - reviews/articles if applicable - SAE for return of same (submissions without a SAE will not be returned) Applications to the exhibition and studio programmes should be made separately, and artists are welcome to apply for either one of the programmes, or for both. POZNAN 2009 INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE TRIENNIAL: CALL

Culture Centre 'Zamek', organiser of the 16th International Sculpture Triennial in Poznan, Poland, is pleased to announce that submission of works for Poznan 2009 International Sculpture Triennial exhibition is now open. The Triennial will take place at Culture Centre 'Zamek' from 3 October 2009 to 15 November 2009. Submissions are open to both Polish and international artists, who may submit up to 3 sculptures or alternatively 1 sculptural work consisting of more than one element (i.e. one installation, spatial/multimedia work). Submissions will be assessed by jury and prizes include participation in Poznan 2009, medals and honourable mentions (including a Young Artist's Individual Exhibition in Culture Centre 'Zamek'). RDS National Crafts Competition and Travelling Exhibition 2009 - Call

The RDS, in association with the Crafts Council of Ireland, is pleased to announce the 2009 RDS National Crafts Competition open call for submissions. The 2009 prize fund is in excess of E30,000, with 20 categories ranging from contemporary ceramics to furniture design. This year competition categories and awards have been updated, and applications can now be made online. In addition to the competition, an exhibition of work by category winners will take place during the annual Fáilte Ireland Dublin Horse Show from 5 to 12 August 2009. The exhibition will then travel to Birr Theatre and Arts Centre, Offaly (14 to 28 September 2009), Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny (5 to 28 October 2009), and Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh (2 to 23 November 2009). A fee of E10 per entrant applies / E5 for students/apprentices which should accompany the initial photo submissions. Firestation Artists’ Studios announces 2 residency opportunities for disabled visual artists

1. Studio awards for professional disabled visual artist in partnership with Arts and Disability Ireland (ADI): Running from Sept 2009 - Aug 2010, the aim of this award is to support the professional career development of disabled visual artists whose practice is innovative and ambitious. It is also aimed at artists who are open to engaging in a dialogue around their practice during their residency. A rent free live and work studio in Dublin’s city centre for up to 6 months is provided along with an artist bursary of up to €3,000, an ‘access grant’ of up to €1,000 and full use of digital, technical and workshop facilities on-site. 2. Digital media residencies for disabled visual artists: Running from May 2009 – May 2010, this award will support the professional career development of disabled visual artists through 3 – 6 month residencies (non-residential). Artists will have full access to all digital media equipment and the technical support of the Resource Area Manager. The closing date for applications for both awards is Wednesday 29th April 2009. Critical Writing in Irish Craft Award 2009

The Critical Writing in Irish Craft Award 2009 is a Crafts Council of Ireland and Irish Arts Review initiative to advance, expand and support excellence in critical writing about Irish craft and to provide a platform for new critical voices in Irish craft. We invite submissions from writers, craftspeople and those with an interest in Irish craft, based in Ireland or Northern Ireland and aged 18 and over. Essays are invited on the following topics: • Craft as visual culture • The missing link – craft, cultural heritage and identity • 21st century craft - the shape of things to come • Critical essay on the work of an Irish craftsperson The winner of the Critical Writing in Irish Craft Award 2009 will receive a cash award of E500 and the winning essay will be published in Irish Craft 2009, the annual craft edition of the Irish Arts Review. How to enter • Entries should not exceed 1200 words, submitted as a Word attachment via email to awards@ccoi.ie • The cover page must include the writer’s name, address, email, and phone number. Hard copy entries will not be accepted. • The closing date for submissions is 30 June 2009. Terms and conditions • Entries must be unpublished and the entrants’ original work. • All submissions must reflect a critical understanding of Irish craft and, where appropriate, reference international comparisons. • Entrants must be aged 18 and over. • Late entries and/or those in breach of the entry conditions will be excluded. • By submitting an article to be considered for the Critical Writing in Irish Craft Award 2009, each author grants permission to Irish Arts Review to publish the article in Irish Craft. • The Crafts Council of Ireland and Irish Arts Review reserve the right to publish all or part of the work for promotional purposes where they see fit, both online and in print. • No correspondence will be entered into and the judges’ decision is final. Aesthetica Annual Creative Works Competition

The second Aesthetica Annual Creative Works Competition is now open for entries. This is an international competition which celebrates the best upcoming talents in the worlds of art, fiction and poetry. Aesthetica’s 2009 Competition: • The Competition has three categories: Artwork & Photography, Fiction and Poetry • One winner in each category will be awarded £500 • Winners and runners up will be published in the Aesthetica Annual 2010 edition, available nationwide from Borders from December • Entry to the Creative Works Competition is £10 • The entry fee allows the submission of either 5 images, 5 poems, or 2 short stories • The closing date for the Creative Works Competition is 31 August 2009 • Full Terms and Conditions The winners and finalists from last year, went on to secure further exhibitions, commissions (such as Channel 4’s Three Minute Wonder) and publications. (17th April) This course will offer each of the participants the opportunity to work in a live production environment and at the end of the course each student will have directed or edited a broadcast quality television programme. The course will be taught through the Irish language and therefore will also develop the linguistic abilities of students by giving them the opportunity to work and study in an Irish-speaking environment. Classes will take place both at WIT and An Rinn and will be delivered through Irish. CreativeCareers.ie

CreativeCareers.ie was set up to provide a cost effective, accessible and wide-reaching career development service for the Arts, Creative and Cultural sector. It launched in May 2008 and already we have over 3,000 visits per week to the site. In September 2008 we started a subscription based Jobs update. So far there is over 2,500 subscribers a figure which is constantly increasing. FEELYSTONE Artist-in-Residence Programme July 2010. Boyle, Co Roscommon, Ireland.  Closing Date Friday 30 April 2010

This programme is offered by FEELYSTONE, in association with Boyle Arts Festival, to celebrate 230 years in business and in recognition of the company’s ongoing support and sponsorship of the arts.  Founded in 1780 on the principles of expert craftsmanship and knowledge of stone, these core principles are as valid to this modern company today in the hands of the 10th Feely generation. Sculpted stone offers many possibilities for creative expression and this 2-week residency programme for up to 5 visual artists encourages the creative and imaginative use of stone, together with access to the factory’s modern stone cutting machinery and other technical assistance throughout the facility. Open to national and international artists, the residency programme will take place from 17th to 31st July.  From July 28th artists will open their work space to the public as part of FeelyStone’s participation in Boyle Arts Festival. Each artist will be provided with a workspace, accommodation, free or subsidised materials from stock (primarily stone), technical assistance and use of equipment.  Selection will be by competitive application.
