Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon Small Festivals Fund

Small Arts Festivals and events play a distinctive role in developing a vibrant and sustainable arts profile at local level. They offer support to artists living locally and they provide active audience participation through workshops. Festivals present new types of work and ways of working that can have far reaching effects. With the Small Festivals Fund (max grant is Eur20,000), the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon recognises the valuable contribution made by active voluntary committees to developing and sustaining these festivals and events.

In 2008, 177 festivals and events were supported under this scheme. The average award was Eur5,650. The next deadline: 5.30pm 27th February 2009 Round Two of the scheme is available to Festivals and Events taking place between the 1st July - 31st December 2009 Round Two of the scheme is available to Festivals and Events taking place in the second half of 2009, i.e. after 1 July 2009.

They applicants to apply online if possible as this cuts down immensely on administration time. First Time Applications First time applicants to the scheme are advised to contact Úna McCarthy, Head of Festivals and Events, prior to submitting an application; telephone +353 1 6180272 or by email to firsttime@artscouncil.ie.

Community Foundation for Ireland

The Community Foundation makes grants to not-for-profit and voluntary groups working in communities throughout the Republic of Ireland. The Community Foundation doesn't fund arts projects except where the use of the arts leads to the social inclusion of people and communities who are excluded by reason of geography, race, age, disability, family circumstances, poverty or gender. The small grants are aimed at supporting work with carers, older people, families at risk, sexual minorities, ethnic minorities and mental health and integration. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and assessed three times per year. 2009 Closing Dates: - 27th February (successful grantees will receive their grants in April) - 31st July (successful grantees will receive their grants in September) - 30th October (successful grantees will receive their grants in December Further information at www.communityfoundation.ie/grants

Bank of Ireland Millennium Scholars' Trust

The Bank of Ireland Millennium Scholars' Trust awards are targeted at people with talent and ability who, because of economic circumstances or other barriers such as disability, are prevented from reaching their full potential. There is no upper level restriction on candidates' ages, but applicants must be at least 16 years old at the time of course commencement.
