Donal Buckley - Remembrance and Reconciliation in Ireland
Captain Donal Buckley talks on reconciliation in Ireland and how it can be helped through the process of remembrance. “Because of our difficult history and our sometimes traumatic relations with Britain, Northern Ireland and indeed each other, we traditionally have had a difficulty in remembering those who fell for us in the World Wars. Hardly a family in Ireland was untouched by the Great War and yet grieving and remembering their fallen has been more painful than in other countries as the political landscape changed beyond recognition and public grief and memory was suppressed.” An apposite and relevant talk in prospect.
