Mayo County Council – 1916 residency commission

6 month residency, approx. October 2015 to April 2016
To commemorate the 1916 Easter Rising, Mayo County Council invites submissions for a special residency working with the Jackie Clarke Collection’s artefacts relating to this key event in Irish history.
The aim of this commission is to enable the artist time to develop new work, dedicate time to research and develop new ideas in response to the 1916 Easter Rising by working with the Jackie Clarke Collection. This commission will provide one artist with an opportunity for a long term residency based in the Ballina area and provide an opportunity to highlight the unique, nationally significant resource that the Jackie Clarke Collection represents, especially in the centenary year of the Rising.
Site Visit: 11.30am Friday 19th June 2015

Mayo County Council invites submissions for a public art project in Claremorris, County Mayo. The funding for this project has been provided by the Percent for Art Scheme through the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government. Budget €28,500

CHANGING TRACKS – International Public Art Programme to launch in Mayo on July 12th 2014!

Mayo County Council is delighted to announce the official launch of CHANGING TRACKS at The Mill Times Hotel, Westport at 1pm on Saturday 12th July 2014.
Senator Fiach Mac Conghail, Director of the Abbey Theatre will officially launch CHANGING TRACKS, an outdoor temporary public art project taking place this summer in County Mayo, Northamptonshire and Catalonia as part of the European Union’s Culture Programme 2007 to 2013.

Changing Tracks - European Public Art Commission for Irish Artists

Mayo County Council, Public Art Programme, in partnership with Northampton County Council (UK) and Transversal (Catalonia, Spain) has been successful in securing EU Culture Programme funding from the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive of the European Commission (EACEA) for:
A major public art programme of outdoor temporary work.
One artist living in, or from, Ireland will be commissioned to create three temporary artworks, one in each partner country, related to the shared common theme and site of old railway lines. An artist from the other 2 partner countries will also be commissioned.
Total budget for each artist, including fee, production and all related costs – c. €61,000

FIND - a collaboration between the Public Art Programme and the Linenhall Arts Centre
A series of commission opportuities for visual artists living in, or from, Co Mayo

FIND aims to realise a series of temporary artworks/installations/events in and around the town of Castlebar. The works will be installed within walking distance of each other and found via maps provided to the public. The Linenhall Arts Centre will act as central headquarters/studio for participating artists and audience alike.
This project is the first collaboration of the Linenhall Arts Centre and the Mayo County Council Public Art Programme. The series of temporary installations in and around Castlebar, created by Mayo based artists in response to this brief will culminate in a special event in Spring 2014, hosted from the Linenhall Arts Centre including talks, tour of artworks and networking opportunities.

She will discuss the Minefield commission and give an insight into the many collaborations that take place within the production processes of her work. Knock Sculpture Commission

Mayo County Council, on behalf of Swinford Community Recreation Centre Ltd invites submissions from experienced artists for a public art project at Knock Airport. The artwork will be a figurative bronze sculpture depicting Monsignor Horan.
Proposals should include designs for a figurative bronze sculptural work, depicting Monsignor Horan at a minimum of 1.5 x life size, with appropriate plaque and surround/plinth, to be designed by the artist.
The artist should outline a budget which will cover design, production, supply and installation, inclusive of all costs, VAT, insurance and other charges.

Public Art Commissions - Ballina
Commission 1 – Ballina Arts Centre – Budget €20,000
Commission 2 – Ballina Riverside Walkway – Budget €35,000

Mayo County Council invites artists to develop proposals for two new commissions. The first is for a permanent wall based, suspended or window mounted internal artwork in the foyer of the newly developed Ballina Arts Centre. All artforms will be considered though the outcome is assumed to be permanent.
A second commission is for the new nearby Riverside Walkway. It is envisaged that the artwork for the Walkway will be sculptural due to the nature of the proposed site and the fact that North East Mayo has very few examples of sculptural work.
