Construction Products Regulations

Construction Products Regulations Description

European Union (Construction Products) Regulations (SI No 225 of 2013);

Under theEuropean Union (Construction Products) Regulations CE marking is mandatory for all construction products placed on the market for which harmonised standards are in place.  The Construction Products Regulation aims to ensure that reliable performance-related data is made available, by means of Declarations of Performance, in relation to construction products being placed on the European market.

It is essential that any construction product used in a building or works must be fit for the use for which they are intended and for the conditions in which they are to be used.

A “construction product” is any product or kit which is produced and placed on the market for incorporation in a permanent manner in construction works or parts thereof and the performance of which has an effect on the performance of the construction works with respect to the basic requirements for construction works.

“Kit” means a construction product placed on the market by a single manufacturer  as a set of at least two separate components that need to be put together to be incorporated in the construction works.

You should ensure that you, your builder, your designer/assigned certifier and your suppliers are familiar with the requirements of the Construction Products Regulations.
