Town & Village Renewal Scheme 2017

Expressions of Interest.

Mayo County Council invites towns and villages within the county to submit Expressions of Interest for inclusion in the Town & Village Renewal Scheme 2017.

The Town & Village Renewal Scheme 2017 is aimed primarily at improving the economic development of our rural towns and villages, therefore successful proposals will include activities which have clear, positive economic impacts on the town/village, rather than only public realm-type actions.

Following an evaluation of all the Expressions of Interest submitted, Mayo County Council will forward 15 proposals to the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs for approval.

Only one application for any individual town can be submitted to Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs. The does not preclude an application from including several linked components to support the rejuvenation of the town/village.

The grant funding will be up to 80% of the total cost of a project, the balance being made up of 10% “in-kind” contributions and a 10% minimum cash contribution. The minimum grant which is available is €20,000 and the maximum is €100,000.

The evaluation criteria and scoring framework are set out in the Town & Village Renewal Scheme 2017 – Scheme Outline.

Expressions of Interest should be submitted, on the official form provided, to Declan Turnbull, Community & Integrated Development Officer, Mayo County Council, Cedar House, Moneen Rd. Castlebar on or before 5pm on Friday 26th of May 2017. No expressions of interest will be accepted after that time.

The Mayo Local Economic and Community Plan is a framework that identifies economic and local community issues in County Mayo and gives effect to the delivery of economic and community development in a manner which is consistent with higher level plans and strategies including the Regional Planning Guidelines for the West Region 2010-2022 and The Mayo County Development Plan 2014-2020.

Mayo Public Participation Network (PPN)

  PPN Information Evenings

The Mayo Public Participation Network replaced the Mayo Community Forum in late 2014.
The Network provides a mechanism to facilitate and enable the public and the Community & Voluntary organisations to articulate a diverse range of views and interest within the Local Government system.
The aim of the Network is to encourage and enablepublic participation in local decision making, to actively support inclusion of socially excluded groups and to identify issuesof collective concern and work to influence policy locally in relation to these.
The PPN will give the public more direct access to local government decision and policy making mechanisms, and will be the main link through which Mayo County Council connects with the community and voluntary, social inclusion and environmental sectors without prejudice to other consultation processes.
