Solvents Regulations

The Emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds from Organic Solvents Regulations (referred to as the Solvents Regulations) were introduced in Ireland in November 2002. This legislation requires Irish business, which use solvents or solvent containing materials as part of their operation, to determine if the regulations apply to them, and if so, obtain a Certificate of Compliance by October 31st 2007.

Deco Paint Regulations

The Limitation of Emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds due to the Use of Organic Solvents in Certain Paints, Varnishes and Vehicle Refinishing Products Regulations (referred to as the Deco Paints Regs S.I. No. 199 of 2007) were introduced in May 2007 and amends the 1999 Solvents Directive so that the activity of vehicle refinishing for repair is no longer regulated under the Solvent Regulations. On and from the 1st March 2008 it shall be an offence to operate a vehicle refinishing installation without a current Certificate of Compliance.
