Amateur Photography Competition
The wildlife of County Mayo is an important part of the county’s heritage. During Summer 2008 we invited you to explore your local area and capture this heritage in a photograph.
We were looking for photographs of wildlife in the county, including animals, birds, insects, fish, flowers, plants and trees.
Judging criteria included:
- Originality and creativity
- Demonstration of an understanding of the natural heritage of the county
- Photographic content and composition
Entries were judged in 3 categories:
Junior (Under 10)
Youth (10-17)
Adult (18+)
Over 200 entries were received for the competition. We would like to thank everyone who entered the competition and encourage all to continue to explore the rich and diverse wildlife and natural heritage of Mayo.
The Winning Entries are as follows:
Adult Category (18+)

Youth Category (10-17)
