STUDENT GRANT SCHEME 2012 (Higher Education Grants)

Student Grants 2012/13 Academic Year - Where to Apply

A new ONLINE ONLY student grant application system has been introduced for the 2012/13 academic year.

All NEW student grant applications should be made online to a single awarding authority, Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI), at https://www.grantsonline.ie/ (External site, opens in new window)

You should make your student grant application to SUSI at https://www.grantsonline.ie/ unless you already hold a grant from Mayo County Council and are continuing the same course in 2012/13.

HOW DO I KNOW WHERE TO APPLY?

If you previously had a grant from Mayo County Council and are continuing the same course in the 2012/13 academic year your application will continue to be processed by Mayo County Council for the duration of your current course.  Mayo County Council will contact you in early summer 2012 with instructions for renewing your grant.

If you are starting college for the first time in 2012/13 you should apply online to SUSI through  https://www.grantsonline.ie/.

If you started your course before the 2012/13 academic year and are applying for a student grant for the first time in 2012/13 you should make your online application to SUSI through https://www.grantsonline.ie/.

If you previously had a grant from Mayo County Council but are starting a new course (such as a postgraduate course) in 2012/13 you should apply online to SUSI through https://www.grantsonline.ie/.

IMPORTANT NOTE

There are no paper application forms available for the Student Grant Scheme 2012.    Applications for students starting NEW courses in 2012/13 must be made using the SUSI online application system at  https://www.grantsonline.ie/.

If you previously held a grant from Mayo County Council AND are continuing the same course in the 2012/13 academic year, you will receive instructions for renewing your grant in June 2012.

WHEN CAN I MAKE MY GRANT APPLICATION TO SUSI?

You can now submit your online student grant application to SUSI on https://www.grantsonline.ie/.

Please make your grant application to SUSI as early as possible.  You do not need to know the exact course you will be attending in order to make your grant application.

Before making your online application please ensure that you have visited www.studentfinance.ie (External site, opens in new window) to familiarise yourself with all relevant information about student grants and to read the Guidance Notes for completing an application.

Eligibility criteria and reckonable income limits may be found in the Student Grant Scheme 2012 (PDF - 412 KB) and the Student Support Regulations 2012 (PDF - 184 KB)
