Motor Tax

How do I get a PIN?

In order to tax your vehicle online at, you must have a Personal Identity Number (PIN).

If you are taxing a brand new or imported vehicle online for the first time, the PIN is the last six digits of the chassis number.

For all vehicle renewals, the PIN is the last six digits of the Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC) which appears at the top right hand corner of the front of the VRC and begins with a letter. The PIN will remain the same for the vehicle unless its ownership is changed or you receive a duplicate VRC, in which case a new PIN is created.

If you have lost or misplaced your PIN, have yet to receive it, or have recently purchased a vehicle and wish to retrieve your PIN, you may click on the link below and your PIN can be emailed to you if your vehicle is eligible for online taxing.
