Foras na Gaeilge Funding Schemes


Foras na Gaeilge is accepting applications for the following schemes:

Youth Events Scheme

  • Aim: To support groups or individuals outside of the Gaeltacht to organise events through the medium of Irish, for young people, outside school hours between 1 September 2012 and 30 June 2013
  • Support Available: up to €5,000 – to keep fees for young people to a minimum
  • Target Group: Children between 3 and 16 years of age
  • Organisers: Irish teachers, voluntary workers
  • Status: Open

Summer Camp Scheme

  • Aim: To support groups outside the Gaeltacht to organise Summer camps through the medium of Irish between 02 July 2012 and 31 August 2012
  • Support Available: Up to €5,000 – to keep fees for young people low
  • Target Group: Children between 3 and 16 years of age
  • Camp Organisers – Irish teachers, voluntary workers
  • Status:Open

An Ghaeilge sa Phobal (Irish in the Community)

  • Aim: To support community groups to organise events to support the Irish language, on a local basis
  • Support Available: Up to €5,000 available for community committees to encourage the usage of The Irish language on a local basis
  • Target Group: Community committees

Festivals Scheme 2012

  • Aim: This scheme is aimed at festivals which aim to foster and promote, through Irish or bilingually, Irish language arts, indigenous arts and Irish language heritage as an integral part of the festival, and to provide a stage for the Irish language internationally, at a community level and at an artistic level
  • Criteria of Scheme:
    • Subject matter of the festival, the number and attractiveness of the events through the medium of Irish
    • The imagination and innovation of the festival organisers’ programme
    • The number of participants
    • To promote the use of Irish in the context of indigenous arts –recitation, singing, storytelling, story reading, puppetry, drama, film,literature, and to encourage new artists
    • The use of Irish in the festival programme and in the festival promotional material

Bilingual Signage Scheme

  • Aim: To support small and medium sized enterprises to apply the Irish or bilingual external signage.
  • Support available: Match-funding of a maximum of €1,500 i.e. Shop- Fronts, Vehicle Signs, External Directional Signs, etc.
  • Target Group: Small and Medium Sized Commercial Businesses.

Bilingual Material Scheme

  • Aim: To support small and medium sized entreprises to use and produce other visible Irish or Bilingual material.
  • Support available: Match-funding of a maximum of €1,000 for such materials as: stationery, packaging, websites, internal signage, leaflets, marketing material etc.
  • Target Group:Small and Medium sized commercial enterprises.
