In an attempt to find the right words...

In an attempt to find the right words… is teideal do saothar ealaíne poiblí nua leis an ealaíontóir James Hayes in Áras Inis Gluaire, Ionad Ealaíon Bhéal an Mhuirthead i gContae Mhaigh Eo. Saothar ealaíne é seo ina bhfuil breis is 2,000 peann luaidhe déanta de cré-umha teilgthe agus iad, de réir dealraimh, caite in aghaidh an bhalla (ar nós dairteanna). Tugadh cuireadh oscailte don phobal ar fad níos luaithe sa bhliain chun teacht ar dhaoine a mbeadh dúil acu peann luaidhe dá gcuid féin a thairiscint – peann a chiallódh rud éigin ar leith dóibh- agus go mbeadh siad sásta é a bhronnadh agus é a bheith úsáidte san saothar ealaíne. Cuireadh fáilte mhór roimh an tionscnamh sa cheantar áit ar bronnadh cuid mhaith pinn luaidhe agus thángthas ar chuid eile ó scríbhneoirí, ealaíontóirí agus filí ar fud an chontae. Tá taispeántas ar siúl sa spás dánlainne in Áras Inis Gluaire, go dtí 10ú Samhain, ag cur síos ar phróiseas cruthaithe an tsaothair ealaíne mar aon le roinnt de na scéalta bainteach leis na pinn luaidhe a deonaíodh.

In an attempt to find the right words... is a new permanent public art installation by artist James Hayes in Áras Inis Gluaire, Belmullet, Co. Mayo. The installation consists of over 2,000 bronze cast pencils which appear to have been launched (dart-like) onto the wall. Earlier in the year there was an open invitation to anyone who wanted their own special pencil, which had some significance to them, to donate it to be cast in bronze and included in the final artwork. There was a great response, with many local people donating pencils, also several writers, artists and poets from across the country donated their pencils too. An exhibition documenting the process of creating the artwork, and the stories behind some of the donated pencils, will be exhibited in the gallery space of Áras Inis Gluaire until November 10.

A Place in Time in ÁRAS INIS GLUAIRE

Seolfar taispeántas péintéireachta le Mary Lavelle-Burke dar teideal A Place in Time in Áras Inis Gluaire ar an 13ú Samhain ag 4.00 i.n. Is é an dealbhóir, John McHugh, a osclóidh an taispeántas go hoifigiúil. Fuair Mary Lavelle-Burke céim sna mínealaíona ó GMIT sa bhliain 2007 agus tá sí ag obair agus ina cónaí ar Oileán Acla. Is é Oileán Acla, go mórmhór timpeall Dumha Éige, is mó atá mar inspioráid don saothar seo. Is é seo an chéad taispeántas aonarach léi cé go bhfuil a cuid oibre le feiceáil ar fud na tíre agus thar lear freisin.

An exhibition of paintings by Mary Lavelle-Burke, titled A Place in Time will be launched in Áras Inis Gluaire on November 13, at 4.00 p.m. The exhibition will be officially opened by John McHugh, sculptor. Mary Lavelle-Burke graduated with a degree in Fine Art and Design from GMIT in 2007 and she lives and works on Achill Island. She has participated in several group exhibitions since 2006 throughout Ireland and abroad. Mary’s work is included in public and private collections in many countries, including the collection of Mayo County Council and National University Hospital Galway. The atmosphere and environment of Achill Island - and the everyday life spent observing and experiencing the landscape and the sea, specifically the shoreline, rocks and pools of Dooega Bay - has inspired the body of works in A Place in Time – her first solo exhibition.
