Event Coordinator

Gnó Mhaigh Eo’s mission is to support and encourage the business sector in Mayo to use the Irish Language as a worthwhile and profitable business tool which will create a sustainable benefit in the long run. Arising from this mission, we are involved in business development and cultural tourism in particular and accordingly Event Organisation, Public Relations, Research, Dealing with Clients and Business Administration are core parts of our activities.  We now offer a work placement of 9 months duration for a person with the qualifications below through the FÁS Work Placement Programme.

Person specification

  • Ideally have a high standard of both written & spoken Irish
  • Relevant Third level Qualification in Business/Marketing or another relevant field
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience on Social media
  • Ability to work on own initiative & in a team
  • Own transport is desirable but not essential

I measc Dhámhachtainí Gaeilge Fulbright 2012-2013 tá:

  • Cúntóireachtaí Múinteoireachta i dTeangacha Iasachta (thart ar €20,000) chun an Ghaeilge a mhúineadh agus cúrsaí a thógaint ar feadh 10 mí in Ollscoil sna Stáit Aontaithe.
  • Dámhachtainí do Scoláirí Gaeilge (uasmhéid €50,000) chun an Ghaeilge a mhúineadh agus taighde a dhéanamh ar an nGaeilge ar feadh 3-9 m(h)í in Ollscoil sna Stáit Aontaithe.

With support from the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the National Lottery, the Fulbright Commission is accepting applications from Irish Language academics and professionals for a Fulbright Irish Language Scholar Award to teach and research at a recognised US higher education or cultural institution.

Close to 60 US colleges and universities are teaching the Irish language and or have Irish language libraries and archive holdings and may be interested in hosting a Fulbright Irish Language Scholar to:

  • assist with Irish language teaching
  • provide curriculum development support
  • research, catalogue and disseminate its Irish language resources for a period of 3 - 9 months during the 2011-2012 academic year

The scholar will be expected to seek his / her own affiliation with a US institution and propose Irish language teaching and or research activities for the duration of the grant period. Contact the Fulbright Commission for further information about potential host institutions, preferred grant activities and qualifications.

The maximum grant offered by the Fulbright Commission will be €50,000 for a full academic year (9 months). The grant will be pro-rated for a candidate going for less than a full academic year. The Commission will consider offering 2 pro-rated grants for successful candidates who have secured affiliations of only 1 semester (3 – 5 months).

    Successful candidates:

    • will receive a monetary award(maximum €50,000 for the full academic year)
    • accident and emergency insurance while in the United States
    • can participate on a range of cultural and professional programsin Ireland and the US
    • must apply for and be granted a J-1 visafor the United States which will remain their status until the completion of their approved academic program
    • are subject to the 2-year home rule.  They will not be eligible for a US residency or work visa until they have fulfilled the two-year home residency requirement of the J-1 visa
    • must take up their award within the academic year for which the award is granted.  All Fulbright awards are for one academic year only. If an awardee is unable to take up the award within that period, s/he will be asked to reapply the following year
    • must submit progress reports during the course of their award.

    Cuireann TG4 agus an Chomhairle Ealaíon fáilte roimh iarratais don seachtú séasúr de Splanc!, scéim nuálach maidir le cláir faisnéise, trína dtacaítear le hiniúchadh cruthaitheach ar na healaíona in Éirinn.

    Tá sé mar aidhm leis an scéim i mbliana tacú le roinnt clár faisnéise ar fhoirm ealaíne amháin nó roinnt foirmeacha ealaíne le haghaidh sraith clár a léiriú ina dtabharfar léargas ar na healaíona agus ar conas ealaín a chruthú in Éirinn sa lá atá inniu ann.

    Breithneofar gach foirm ealaíne agus tabharfar tús áite do thograí a spreagann an t-amharc agus a ghlacann cur chuige úr agus bríomhar maidir lena n-ábhar.  I measc na réimsí a bhfuil spéis ar leith iontu nár clúdaíodh i scannáin Splanc! go dtí seo tá siad seo a leanas: ailtireacht, sorcas, damhsa, ceol, sráidealaíon, téatar, na healaíona traidisiúnta agus na físealaíona. Ní bhreithneofar tograí le haghaidh Splanc! a bheadh níos oiriúnaí le haghaidh Imeall, sraith athbhreithnithe seachtainiúil TG4 ar chúrsaí ealaíon

    Tá ciste iomlán €120,000 ar fáil. Féadfaidh tograí faisnéise rathúla iarratas a dhéanamh ar thacaíocht airgeadais bhreise ó ghníomhaireachtaí maoinithe eile más mian leo.

    Déanfar machnamh ar smaointe maidir le cláir aonair nó sraith. Is fearr cláir leathuair an chloig a dhéanamh ach breithneofar scannáin uair an chloig ar bhonn eisceachtúil. Roghnóidh ionadaithe as an gComhairle Ealaíon agus as TG4 na tograí.

    Is é TG4 a dhéanfaidh coimisiúnú ar na scannáin agus beidh feidhm ag Téarmaí Trádála TG4. Roghnóidh ionadaithe as TG4 agus an Chomhairle Ealaíon araon na tograí a léireofar.

    Spreagann TG4 agus an Chomhairle Ealaíon fostaíocht oibrithe scannán a oibríonn trí mheán na Gaeilge.

    • Buiséad Léiriúcháin: €120,000
    • Formáid: Craoladh scáileán leathan, 16:9 le fotheidil i mBéarla

    TG4 and the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon invite submissions for the 7th season of Splanc! the television documentary scheme that supports the creative exploration of the arts in Ireland.

    This year the scheme aims to support a number of documentaries on one or a number of artforms for a series of programmes that will provide an insight into the arts and into the making of art in Ireland today.

    All artforms are eligible for consideration and proposals for visually engaging programmes that take a fresh and compelling approach to their subject will be prioritized.  Areas of particular interest that have not been prominent inSplanc! films to date are:  architecture, circus, dance, music, street art, theatre, traditional arts and visual arts. Proposals which would be more suitable for Imeall, TG4's weekly arts review series, will not be considered for Splanc!

    A total fund of €120,000 is available. Successful documentary projects may apply for additional financial support from other funding agencies if desired.

    Ideas for single programmes or series will be considered. Half hour duration is preferred but the fund will consider hour long films on an exceptional basis. Projects will be selected by representatives of the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon and TG4.

    TG4 will administer the commissioning of the films and TG4's Terms of Trade will apply. Representatives from both TG4 and the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon will select the projects for production.

    TG4 and the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon encourage the employment of film workers working through the Irish language.

    • Series duration: 2 x 50’ or 4 x 25' series
    • Production Budget: €120,000
    • Format: Broadcast widescreen, 16:9 with English subtitles
    • Language Format: Irish language or bilingual - Irish and English

    Submissions should be sent to TG4, Baile na hAbhann,Co.na Gaillimhe.

    Deadline for receipt of submissions is 1pm on Friday, 11 November 2011.
