The 20th October next marks a very special occasion in the parish of Cill Chomáin.  On that very date, 100 years ago, the foundation stone for the new church at Cornboy was laid.  The people of the parish at that time had their own celebrations, and 100 years later we remember them and all the activities that have taken place in their church since then.   Cornboy is the oldest church in the parish, and as such, holds many memories for a lot of people.

The evening’s programme starts at 7.00 p.m. when Bishop John Fleming will celebrate Mass, followed by the unveiling of a centenary plaque.  Everyone is then invited to attend a centennial party at the Gateway in Belmullet where at 8.30 p.m. Bishop Fleming will officially launch Fr Eddie Rogan’s new book titled “The New Church: Building, People & Priests”, a comprehensive account of the history of the church.   All proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the parish.  A great night of entertainment will follow with music provided by Tommy and Kathleen of The Duets, and local musicians.  Refreshments will also be served.   We hope you can join us for a truly memorable occasion.
