PLEAN FORBARTHA NA LEABHARLAINNE | LIBRARY DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Céard atá i ndán dár seirbhís leabharlainne? Céard iad na láidreachtaí agus na laigí a bhaineann leis an tseirbhís leabharlainne? An bhfuil dreamanna den phobal nach bhfuilimid ag freastal orthu? An bhfuil ár stoc leabhar srl. suas chun dáta agus feiliúnach? An bhfuil ár n-uaireanta oscailte fada go leor? Ar chóir rochtain ar theicneolaíocht sna leabharlanna a leathnú? A thuilleadh taispeántas agus imeachtaí cultúrtha? An bhfuil bealaí nua agus nuálacha ann chun ár gcuid seirbhísí a sholáthar?

Tá Plean Straitéiseach ceithre bliana do Sheirbhís Leabharlainne an Chontae á chur le chéile ag Comhairle Contae Mhaigh Eo faoi láthair.

Ba mhaith linn do thuairimí - idir mhaith agus olc - a chloisteáil. Má tá tuairimí agat i dtaobh thodhchaí na leabharlainne téigh i dteagmháil linn:

What is the future of our library service? What are its strengths? Its weaknesses? Are there sections of the community for whom we are not providing a service? Is our stock up-to-date and appropriate? Are our opening hours adequate? Should we provide more access to technology? More exhibitions and cultural events? Are there new and innovative ways of delivering our services?

Mayo County Council is working on the development of a four-year strategic plan for the County Library Service.

We want to hear your views on our library service - the good and the bad. If you have opinions on the future of the service you can let us know by:

  • Post your comments in an envelope marked “Library Development Plan” to Mayo County Library, The Mall, Castlebar.
  • Drop your comments in an envelope marked “Library Development Plan” into any of our 15 branches

SEANS CHUN SÍNTIÚS A THABHAIRT I LEITH CHOIMISIÚNAITHE PHOIBLÍ i mBÉAL AN MHUIRTHEAD | YOUR 'WRITE' TO DONATE...

Tá James Hayes, ealaíontóir, ag lorg síntiúis phinn luaidhe cibé tábhachtach, súntasach, bríoch, nó siombalach ó dhuine ar bith, agus go háirithe uathu siúd i gceantar Iorrais ar mhian leo iad a sheoladh, chun cuidiú le páirt de shuiteáil bhuan dhealbhóireachta phoiblí ar mhór scála coimisiúnaithe ag Comhairle Contae Mhaigh Eo a chruthú d’Áras Inis Gluaire i mBéal an Mhuirthead.

Beidh am á chaitheamh aige i mBéal an Mhuirthead le linn mhí Bealtaine ag tabhairt cainteanna i scoileanna áitiúla agus san Ionad Ealaíne agus i mbun ceardlanna a thabhairt do na páistí in Áras Inis Gluaire. Beidh pinn luaidhe na bpáistí a úsfáidfear le linn na ceardlainne curtha isteach freisin ins an obair chríochnaitheach ealaíne.

Déanfar chuile pheann luaidhe a roghnófar ón deonú a mhúnlú go huathúil agus a theilgeann i gcré-umha ansin agus a thabhairt ar ais dá úinéir má iarrfar é.  Beidh an peann luaidhe cré-umha ansin mar chuid den obair mhórscálaí ar taispeántas buan in Ionad Ealaíon Bhéal an Mhuirthead.  Beidh breis agus 2,000 peann luaidhe cré-umha san saothar iomlán, na pinn luaithe deonaithe roghnaithe san áireamh.

Iarrtar ar chuile rannpháirtí a bpeann luaithe a chur isteach in éineacht le giota beag faisnéise chúlra i scríbhinn (uasmhéid de 100 focal) maidir leis an fáth go bhfuil a bpeann luaidhe suntasach dóibh agus faoin chúis gur chóir é a bheith áirithe san togra. D’fhéadfadh go rachfadh an fhaisnéis chúlra seo chun taispeántas forlíontach a cheapadh mar thaca ag an saothar ealaíona poiblí in Ionad Ealaíon Bhéal an Mhuirthead.

Chomh maith le pinn luaidhe dhaoine áitiúla a áireamh, tá cuireadh tugtha ag James freisin do scríobhnóirí, ealaíontóirí, filí agus ailtirí ó thrasna na tíre a gcuid peann luaithe a dheonú chomh maith.

Tá an aighneacht ar dheonú oscailte do gach uile dhuine agus beidh sé teoranta d’uimhir shocraihe pinn luaidhe.  Déanfaidh an t-ealaíontóir an roghnú seo agus beidh sé bunaithe ar an fhaisnéis chúlra agus ar shuntasacht an phinn luaidhe chomh maith lena fheidhmiúlacht agus a oiriúnacht d’fhiúntas aeistéitiúil an tsaothair...

Mar sin, bíodh do sheans agat a bheith mar pháirt don saothar ealaíon.  Ba chóir iontrálacha deonaithe, peann luaidhe agus foirm iarratais chomhlánaithe a chur chuig: Gaynor Seville, Comhordaitheoir Ealaíona Poiblí, Comhairle Contae Mhaigh Eo, Áras an Chontae, Caisleán an Bharraigh, Co. Mhaigh Eo.

Cuirfear gach rannpháirtí ar an eolas maidir leis an roghnú go luath tar éis an dáta deiridh. Bhéarfar cuireadh chuig an ócáid speisialta seolta do chuile dhuine a sholáthróidh peann luaithe nuair a bheidh deireadh leis an saothar ealaíne.

Spriocdháta:  Bealtaine 15

 pinn luaidhe

The artist James Hayes is seeking donations of either important, significant, meaningful or symbolic pencils from anyone, and inparticular those from the Erris region, who wishes to donate them to help form part of a large scale permanent public sculptural installation commissioned by Mayo County Council for Áras Inis Gluaire in Bellmullet.

He will be spending time in Belmullet during May, giving talks at local schools and at the Arts centre and holding workshops for children in Áras Inis Gluaire. The children’s pencils used during the workshop will also be included in the final artwork.

Each pencil that is selected from the donation section will be uniquely molded then cast in bronze and returned to its owner if requested, the bronze pencil will then form part of the large-scale work on permanent display in the Bellmullet Arts Centre. The overall work will contain over 2000 bronze pencils including the selected donated pencils.

Each contributor is asked to submit their pencil along with a small amount of background information in writing (max 100 words) with regard to why their pencil is significant to them and why it should be included in the project. This background information may also go to formulate a supplementary exhibition in support of the public art work in the Bellmullet Arts Centre.

As well as including the pencils of local people, James has also invited Writers, Artists, Poets and Architects from across the country to donate their pencils too.

The donation submission is open to everyone and will be limited to a set number of pencils. This selection will be done by the artist and will be based on the background information and significance of the pencil and it’s functionally and suitability to the overall aesthetical value of the work…

So, have your chance to be part of the art work, donation entries, including pencil and completed form should be sent to Gaynor Seville, Public Arts Co-ordinator, Mayo County Council, Áras an Chontae, Castlebar, Co.Mayo.

Each contributor will be notified in regard to the selection shortly after the closing date. Everyone who contributes a pencil will be invited to a special launch event when the art work is completed.
