Important Update on Mayo County Development Plan 2020-2026

Update — Mayo County Development Plan Review Process is Paused until after the Regional Spatial & Economic Strategy is published.

The National Planning Framework was adopted on 29th May 2018. Currently each of the Regional Assemblies is in the process of preparing a Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy which will provide regional level strategic planning and economic policy in support of the implementation of the National Planning Framework. It is anticipated that the Regional Spatial and Economic Strategies will be completed in early 2019.

The County Development Plan must be consistent with the Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy.

In order to enable each Local Authority to align the timeframe for the statutory review of their Development Plans with the relevant Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy, the Planning and Development (Amendment) Act 2018, which was enacted on July 19th 2018, contains a provision that requires the review process to be suspended where it is in progress until not later than 13 weeks after the relevant Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy is made.

Taking the above into account, the statutory development plan review process will be suspended until after the Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy is made, as set out in the Act.

When the review process recommences, updates will be provided on the Mayo County Council website at www.mayococo.ie/cdp2020 and through its Facebook and Twitter accounts.  You may also contact Mayo County Council Forward Planning Section at any stage for updates via email at forwardplanning@mayococo.ie or by phone at 094 9047204.
